Im very surprised this place only has 9 reviews to date. It might be because people who eat here want to keep it a secret. I first came across this place through a friend who read and shared a write up on this cafe in a local paper. The article claimed Mrs Reid’s goal was to create a cafe that had character and a warmthness to it, a place that serves traditional heart warming food that’s neither over the top nor pretentious (maybe not their exact words but my interpretation of it).

I strongly feel their objectives were nailed on all fronts. Additionally they also set out to create the best breakfast roll in Dublin 8, I think they have massively overachieved here once again. I don’t know if this is the best in Dublin, in Ireland or in the world but it’s hands down the best I have ever eaten and I’m a man who likes to travel far and wide for delicious food. If you are hungry and looking for something that hits the spot you cannot go wrong with this wonderful place, the staff are great, outgoing, chatty and the food is exactly what the doctor ordered and a bit more.

Dublin needs more places like this. It’s the best place to hit Dublin since we lost Gerry’s :(

Thanks for the great food.

Your truly,

A...

By far the best sambo I have ever had, I got the beef brisket, and it melted in the mouth, The roll was light crispy and just the perfect match. As for the onion jam..... wow, wow, wow Friend got the meatball and other had breakfast roll, 9.6 for the meatball 9.8 for breakfast roll and the Beef brisket easiest 10/10 iv given

Back again today 13/10/23 to try the breakfast roll with 3 mates... we weren't disappointed one bit, now I can see why it sells out so fast. The double runny egg l, the spreadable pudding (best around), and then the bacon cooked perfectly with the fat rendered and so tasty, sausages were also delicious.

This cafe is very small but the food is off the charts. The staff are lovely and very chatty and from the area, so it's nice to support local businesses.

Got a coffee today also for the first time there, and it was so smooth and the perfect drinking temperature

Trust me when I say you will return again and again and again.

Will be back on Tuesday for the brisket with onion jam roll, and I can...

Where to begin. The is absolutely a 5 star establishment. Went in today, following a couple pints last night, of a friday. Live not too far away, and have been meaning to stop by for sometime now, and i am SO glad it was today. My friend Finn and I shared a veggie delight - and it was just that, a delight! It is difficult to achieve such a perfect, full tasting vegetarian sandwich. No problem to mrs reid's. I think that for many, sharing one portion will work as they are very generous. My other friend Anna ordered an espresso and pancakes, which she said was delicious. Unfortunately while telling a joke, she knocked over her coffee spilling all of it. She was generously provided with a new one. We enjoyed that atmosphere of the room as we finished our breakfast, and can not wait to go again. In fact, finn, the vegetarian, plans to return within the week to try out the regular breakfast roll as the food here is...

I found this spot randomly when we were roaming around, waiting to check-in to our hotel. It’s a small spot but the food was great! I opted for the roasted ham roll - the portion was huge and the price decent! Not many spots to eat inside - some wall bench seating. My sister and I ate inside, and while we were there it was obvious that a lot of locals come by. The ladies who served us were kind, and knew people by name. My sister got one of their hot drinks and she said it was really good (she’s a bit of a coffee snob!). Will definitely visit again next time I’m in Dublin :)
