We recently dined at Sultan Grill in Dublin and had an overall pleasant experience. The restaurant was clean and spacious, with two distinct seating sections that provided a comfortable dining environment.
The menu featured a nice range of authentic Turkish offerings, including pide, lahmacun, Iskender kebab, doner kebab, ayran, shalgam su, and various Turkish desserts.
We ordered pide, lahmacun, Iskender kebab, and lahm doner. The Iskender kebab was definitely the highlight—flavorful, rich, and absolutely delicious. If you're going to order one thing, make it that. The other dishes were decent and enjoyable.
There was a note on the wall mentioning that the meat used is 50% lamb, with the rest being Polish meat and Polish beef, which was helpful to know. The staff were very kind and friendly, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.
Unfortunately, when we visited, some of the traditional Turkish desserts and side dishes were out of stock. However, we did manage to try the künefe and baklava, and both were excellent—sweet, and well-prepared.
We also ordered Turkish tea and Turkish coffee. The coffee, in particular, was very good and worth trying if you enjoy traditional Turkish-style drinks.
Prices were reasonable—not cheap, but not expensive either. Fair for the quality and portion size.
One area that could really be improved is the air conditioning. The ventilation wasn’t sufficient, and the smell from the kitchen—mostly strong meaty and oily aromas—was noticeable throughout the dining area. It wasn’t overwhelming, but it did affect the overall experience. Better air circulation would definitely help make the atmosphere more pleasant.
All in all, Sultan Grill is a solid choice for Turkish food in Dublin, with great service and some standout dishes, especially the Iskender kebab and Turkish coffee. A few tweaks, especially to the ventilation, could make it...
Read moreUnfortunately, we went with high hopes but none of them were met. Waiting to sit a table on a sunday, not unexpected. However, for such a new place, not having a menu on a table, and I'm talking about a QR code menu here, was not nice or expected. It became even worse experience when they asked us to go scan from another table next to us, which was occupied and eating at that time.
After we managed to order lahmacun, we were recommended some tea, which was again, not good at all. We waited for an hour for 2 lahmacuns and 7-8 mins on top of that for 2 ayran, yoghurt drink. There was no apology or anything. Lahmacun wasn't crisp on the dough enough. The meat was a bit tasteless, we checked for salt, and had to ask from the staff. We also asked for napkin when our order arrived, but we weren't able to get any until our plates are collected.
While paying, a customer ahead of us started talking and kept on minimum 4-5 mins without caring for others behind. A customer may be inconsiderate in that situation, however, the cashier must have some common sense to at least say people are lined up waiting for payment to cut the conversation short. If they don't offer pay at your table option, limiting the time people spends standing up in payment line should be kept minimum in my opinion.
Although I liked the interiors in general, I cannot say I liked seeing a gas oven for lahmacun. Gas oven might be the main reason that diminished the quality of the dough, not giving it enough crispiness. I wished the music selection would be better though I was willing to ignore if we had a better...
Read moreI recently visited Sultan's Grill to try their pide and lahmacun. The location is convenient, and the welcoming staff added to the overall positive impression. However, it was evident that the restaurant is still finding its feet.
We ordered mince meat and cheese pide, and lahmacun, both of which were delicious. The unique taste of authentic Turkish cuisine in Dublin was a pleasant surprise.
On the flip side, there were some service hiccups. The staff appeared inexperienced in the service industry, though they were friendly. A minor incident during order-taking suggested miscommunication among the team.
While waiting for our orders, there was a lack of preparation on the table, such as placing tissues or silverware. Additionally, the absence of garnish with the lahmacun was noted. Despite requesting it, the delay in providing garnish meant having to eat the dish cold.
After finishing our meal, a request for tissues was promptly fulfilled, but they were placed on our empty plate, a litte unprofessional.
These observations are not to criticize but to encourage improvement. The Turkish service industry is renowned globally, and I hope Sultan's Grill can strive for the same quality. Despite the service glitches, the delectable food and warm ambiance make it a promising spot. I look forward to witnessing the growth and refinement of Sultan's Grill...
