Went for a bottomless brunch on Saturday with a group of 8 people. To say that I was disappointed was an understatement. I have been to Wigmam for coffee before and have enjoyed the experience. However, the bottomless brunch was one of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant.
To begin with it took the waiting staff a good 10 minutes to serve us our first drinks and throughout the course of a our 2 hour booking the serving of drinks was slow. I have been to bottomless brunch in several places and the drinks have always been served fast as you are paying for bottomless brunch. At Wigmam we had to constantly get the attention of the waiting staff to order and then had to wait another 10 minutes for them to serve the drinks. This made the overall experience more stressful and less enjoyable than it needed to be. Additionally, the drinks we were served were mostly full of sugar and not worth the money we paid. We were later informed that they don't have a bar tender on during Bottomless brunch and that was causing the delay.
The next issue we had was with the food. We ordered a variety of dishes from the brunch menu and had issues with a number of them. Firstly we were waiting at least an hour for the first dishes of food to be served with the final dishes arriving after an hour and half of waiting. During this time we were not told why our food was delayed or if it would be served soon. We were given one plate of Nachos while waiting for the table of 8 people.
When the food arrived the portion side was extremely disappointing. One person had ordered the Brunch sides for €10 euro. The overall portion was tiny, for example there was about 5 halloumi fries in total. The Granola portion was a tiny bowl (you could call it a kids portion) that was not worth the €7.50 that we got charged for it. Additionally, one of the Eggs Benedict that was ordered was served raw and on burnt toast after sending it back to the kitchen, we were given an over cooked eggs Benedict. A second Eggs Benedict which we ordered was covered in mint even though that is not included in the recipe.
At the end of the meal when we were discussing our experience we were told that there was no management to discuss this with. I do not blame the staff for this experience as it appears that this experience was caused by the lack of organisation at Wigmam and insufficient resources to cope with Bottomless brunch.
I will not be going back to Wigmam for brunch or coffee due to this experience. We were charged €30 in total for a below average bottomless brunch. There are plenty of other restaurants that provide bottomless brunch at a way higher standard and would suggest you check out those places rather...
Read moreStay away at all cost, Booked here for a staff event (karaoke)and It was shocking. Told we had to order via the app as the "private" room we were in was downstairs okay fair, We ALL place drink orders still no drinks after waiting 30 mins. No staff even came to check in, However all the staff came in banging doors as the staff cloakroom door was in our room, So staff are running in and out but not checking in or even making eye contact, So I head upstairs and the staff are chating away I ask about the drinks and they point to the end of the bar with a tray with our drinks and says "You can take them down if you like", This caught myself out. I explained we were told to order via the app and that drinks would be dropped down, The bartender explained they are very busy (about 8 people in the bar) and one of the staff had forgotten, We had order guinness these poor pints had sat there that long they had lost their head! I could go on about this but there is more, toilets had no seat covers, only one mic worked Staff said someone would come down to take a look, nobody came for the Karaoke, The white claw vending machine took after the staff and wasn't working either! A bar where you can't get a drink is a new theme for me. After Karaoke we said the group would sit upstairs and finsh off with a few drinks, We asked a staff member could they take a order, they said no, but you can order via the app, Great here we go again, Knowing the definition of insanity, We though of a plan we will order and then go down to collect our drinks which we did, however when we asked about these drinks we were told by the same member of staff who told us to use the app, that the app stops taking orders after 10, Nowhere on the webpage of said app does it say this nor does it stop you from ordering Madness, Once this is sorted we are told to go back upstairs and wait which we did, Then to our horror the pints were in plactic cups not even filled. In the heart of Dublin, Like come on now, At Seven fiffty a pint. Trying to get a drink in this place is like one of the trials on the crystal maze. We had to give up and change bars. If mgmt wish to contact me to make this right feel free to do so.
One thing redeeming thing about the whole night, Was the door man on the way out, Said goodnight and safe home. Like fair place more customer service right there, then the whole night and he is paid to be rude...
Read moreHaving planned a full day in town we were struggling to find somewhere to have dinner so I chanced my arm by sending an enquiry through their website. I was 1st delighted to get a quick response & 2 that the booking was accepted. Although our booking was for 9pm, we arrived ahead of time. We were met by a very friendly staff member who initially invited us to grab a drink at the bar whilst our table was prepared but came back a minute later to show us to our table. We were situated on the ground floor, to the rear beside the stage. There was a great mix of music going & we were able to relax while we read the menu & tried to narrow down what we were going to have. I ended up having the Smash cheese burger with halloumi fries and a Cuba Libre to wash it down. Although there's a Qr code on the table to allow you to order yourself, there were plenty of staff that were more than happy to take the order. One thing to be mindful of is that you pay for your food/ drink right after you order it so make sure you keep your card handy. As the food is cooked fresh there was a little wait but that gave us more time to soak up the atmosphere & do a bit of people watching. My food was really tasty. We followed this up with a pick from the cocktail specials. We got 2 Moscow Mules which were fantastic. There were djs setting up as we drank & they started their set after 10. We left around 11 & found that there was quite a large queue trying to get in. If you plan to visit at the weekend I would recommend booking in advance to make sure that you get a table. We hope to go back for lunch another day (I blame the other reviewers & their picks of the...
