A Festive Culinary Adventure at The Lotts Café Bar

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Lotts Café Bar (9 The Lotts Lower Liffey, Dublin 1), and I must say, it was quite the experience! From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a beautiful warm atmosphere, enhanced by a traditional bar and enchanting chandeliers. The Christmas decorations added a delightful touch, making it feel like a festive wonderland.

One of the highlights of my visit was the elderly lady serving at the bar, who was the spitting image of Peggy Mitchell from the Queen Vic. She brought a unique charm to the experience, even if her service was a bit reminiscent of Peggy's own—entertaining yet slightly incompetent. It appeared to be her first day on the job, and while she could benefit from some training, her captivating presence added to the quirky ambiance of the café.

Now, let’s talk food! I decided to go for the All Day Breakfast, which was an absolute steal at €14.95. This hearty meal came with toast and coffee, and I couldn’t resist adding another coffee for €3.60 and a chocolate brownie with ice cream for €6.50. However, I was taken aback to find an unexpected €3 charge on my bill for a small scoop of ice cream. While I appreciate that every scoop counts, this felt a bit greedy, especially considering that I could have enjoyed a coffee and dessert across the way at the Ilac Centre for just €6.99

Despite this minor hiccup, my overall experience was delightful and memorable. In fact, I jokingly decided to rename our dear Peggy to "The Grinch," suggesting she might be better suited as a Christmas tree statue or tourist attraction!

In conclusion, I would recommend The Lotts Café Bar for its charming atmosphere and great value breakfast. Just be prepared for a little quirky service and keep an eye on those...

We popped into this pub for a spot of lunch on a Monday. Obviously being a Monday it was not overcrowded but still a good number of people, mostly there to eat.

My partner being a vegetarian was happy enough with the choices on offer for her, whilst myself still being a carnivore was plenty happy with the meat choices on offer! They do a very good selection of steaks, as I soon found out from the table next to us as they all ordered a different one, was kind of jealous having already placed my order before seeing them! My significant other ordered a very large vegetarian frittata whilst I opted for the braised lamb shank, slow cooked with a mixed vegetable broth on a bed of champ mash and runner beans.

The menus are varied covering breakfasts, lunches and dinner. A la carte, finger food platters, coeliac, vegetarian, childrens menu, wine menu, cocktail menu, steak on the stone, main course & drink set menu, group set menu and so on!

Drink selection is very varied, good beers, wine and cocktails. All very reasonably priced, as is the food. If you fancy having a drink somewhere cosy then you will love the Lotts Snug bar, the smallest bar in Dublin! A great place to watch sports too, where you can also win free pints!!!

The bar itself is kept clean and tidy. Staff are welcoming, polite, helpful and friendly.

We would definitely eat there again, many more items on the menu I would...

On a Wednesday evening, 8th of December 2020, me and my friends booked a table for 4 people, having in mind to order the mid-week deal. The manager was very rude, and stated that the deal was not available during the Christmas period. I asked if he can define the period of time when is the deal available, because I thought is kind of false advertising when on the website and menu was still available. He got very angry and kicked us out, regardless that we booked the table a few day prior to this event. I asked him what is the reason for kicking us out and he stated that :"we are very busy" and "we don't serve people who make social media threats". I was very disappointed of his reaction, we left the place without having our dinner. The manager was in his mid 40s, he didn't want to tell us his name. He kicked us out like we were animals. Because we came from different place's around the world, I don't think that's fair to treat anyone like that especially in this type of industry. I work for more than 5 years as a waiter/food and beverage assistant and I never in my life treated people like that. Hope karma will do the same things as he did for us. Very dissatisfied and...

Have eaten here before and the food was good. On this visit, however, our order was forgotten. The waitress blamed it on new staff. But tables around us got food after we had ordered. When it finally arrived, most of the food was of good quality. I ordered the chicken wings with franks sauce. Usually, I like my wings covered in the sauce. But, alas, on this occasion, the chef decided to just show the sauce to the wings with the hope that some of them would reach out and cover themselves in the sauce. Granted, a few did. But most opted for a light dusting of sauce. They also (the wings) seemed to opt for staying in the fryer for much longer than wings would normally do so were pretty overcooked. €13 for a small portion of unsauced over cooked wings is a little steep. Perhaps the wings were just not playing ball. Perhaps the chef just didn't care. Also, the celery decided to take a night off from the plate. In summary, it is good for steak on a stone. Bad for wings with sauce and celery. Either way, it's worth a visit.
