We went to this place on our short visit to Dublin. All other places around were busy but here we were greeted by a nice lady at the entrance and seated straight away, which was nice. I went for a mushroom bruschetta starter and my partner ordered goat cheese bruschetta. We both ordered pizzas (funghi and diablo) as mains and couple of soft drinks.
Unfortunately, that's when our experience went downhill. It was a looooong wait for bruschettas to arrive. Really long. When they finally arrived, mushroom one was lovely, but goat cheese one didn't have goat cheese on it. The staff apologised and brought a tiny portion of goat cheese on a side (pictured). After our starters, another loooooong wait for the mains. The waitress came to apologise and said she's trying to make it quicker for us. But the restaurant was getting emptier while we were still waiting. Once the pizzas arrived it was quite a dissapointment. Fungi pizza base was the thinnest I've seen and it all was covered in massive amounts of cheese. Floating in it. I love cheese but it was A LOT, with barely any pizza base. You could not pick up a slice of it as it was all falling appart because of the weight of cheese. I could not finish my mean as I was not enjoying eating what seemed to be just a massive amount of melted cheese. It was one of the worst pizzas I ever had.
I shared my dissapointments with the waitress and she said she'll ask the manager to come over. The manager showed up shortly and was nice, he brought our bill and they didn't charge us for our soft drinks (which was just 6.75 EUR from 55.75 EUR bill). He also offered desserts, which we politely refused as we were full but also, if I'm honest, I didn't want to wait for another hour or so.
But me complaining was not about getting an extra dessert or something off the bill, I was ready to pay full amount. I just really didn't like the experience and food in this place and I am sorry about that. Btw, just to note, the waiting staff was lovely and no complaints...
Read moreI went with a friend to take breakfast here at 9am. Warm welcome and were quickly served our vegetarian and mega irish breakfasts. Really good food and decent price. The place was very comfortable.
But had two bad experiences that ruined everything. My friend even rated this place with 5 stars before we even finished...
First, my friend asked to change the avocado instead of beans, the waiter said absolutely. Later on when we paid and left, we found out they actually charged us 2.5€ as if it was an Extra Add On, when the beans were replaced by the avocado, not and extra addition. In any case, if they charge for that anyways, he should be informed.
Second and worst, we asked for a dessert, and after 30 minutes we were still waiting, and I'm not exaggerating. Eventually a waitress came asking if we want something to eat... lol they clearly forgot about us, after 2 minutes they brought the dessert... And we were at the basement, it's a small place, and waiters were passing by quite often by our side.
In the end, we asked for the bill, didn't want the dessert and left.
Just one advice from a hospitality professional to another, just stop for a moment, raise your head in the room and look at all the tables. You will definately tell if someone's missing something, waiting, etc... even pass by the tables and check to make sure everyone is okay. Doesn't matter how busy you are, the procedure for quality service is the same, besides other things....
From 5 and reapeat, the rating dropped to 2 and not coming back, and because we really liked the breakfast food, otherwise would be 1.
Hopefully you learn and improve...
Read morevisited for a brunch on a Sunday and was fortunate enough to secure a table amidst the bustling atmosphere. While the overall experience had its ups and downs, the standout feature was undoubtedly the incredible food that ultimately salvaged the visit.
To start with, the service was prompt as the server quickly approached our table to take our orders. Unfortunately, the coffee fell short of expectations which was a slight disappointment. The aperol spritz I ordered also turned out to be average in taste, failing to leave a lasting impression.
The true saving grace of the brunch was unquestionably the food. Although it took more than an hour for our dishes to arrive, the wait was worthwhile as the flavors and presentation were exceptional. The Diablo chicken salad plate, specifically recommended by the server, was a revelation. It featured a delightful combination of quinoa, pico de gallo, and a tantalizing peanut rayu sauce, resulting in a unique and delicious blend of flavors. highly recommended.
The ambiance of the brunch spot was vibrant, with a lively atmosphere and an evident popularity among visitors. The staff appeared attentive and eager to assist, although the extended wait for the food did test our patience.
Overall, I would rate this brunch experience with 3/5. Despite the wait, the exceptional food made the visit worthwhile, leaving me with a positive impression of the establishment. If you're willing to be patient for a culinary delight, this brunch spot is...
