This is a delicious restaurant with great staff and a fantastically unique namesake. The restaurant is huge with multiple levels of seating. We were told that it was hard to get a table here but I don’t see that being the case, especially if you’re coming for lunch. The bathrooms are on the top floor but they are exceptionally clean. The staff are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. If you’re visiting, asked them their preferences or get them to help you make your decision. They have great suggestions. It felt like we ordered a lot of food, and that’s probably because each plate comes with more than just the dish. We ordered the Dublin Coddle (a historically rich dish), the Irish Stew, a hamburger, a wrap with soup, the lemon cake for dessert, and I polished it off with an Irish coffee. The coddle and stew both come with mash potatoes and thick, deliciously dense bread. All the food was amazing and so good. I had my doubts about the coddle given its description but not anymore; I’d get it again if I were there today. The lemon cake was moist and scrumptious. Lastly, the Irish coffee was the perfect blend of coffee and alcohol with a thick layer of sweet cream resting on top dusted with cocoa. This was a perfect way to end our Dublin/Irish experience. Before you go, brush up on what the Hairy Lemon was or more accurately who he was. Enjoy!

I went to Hairy Lemon on a Sunday around 3pm and despite there being a lot of people, I managed to get a small table to have lunch after walking for hours in Dublin. I was really tired and I thought the service was slow, it took a while for someone to come, then I saw another couple getting up and picking up one of the menus that were under a small table, so I did the same. It took about 10 minutes or more after I got the menu on my own for someone to come and to ask what I would like to drink or eat. However, after I placed the order it was quick. I ordered the traditional Fish and Chips that was good and also an Irish beer named O'hara's Irish red, which was very tasty. The atmosphere in general was really nice, I didn't hear live music, but there was some really cool Irish music and everyone seemed to be having fun at the bar and at the tables. I actually saw a family with children eaten there, and I think it's OK for children at least for lunch. I think it was worth it and I would go back with some friends and to try their Irish Stew that is famous over there.

If your early to mid 20s bouncer can be very rude when IDing and gives unnecessary wait times or comes up with excuses not to let you in despite being over 21. I would head across to pmacs instead. Love the place generally but last night the bouncer was very strange with me and my group of four. We came at different points in the evening and he only let one of us in with no trouble, each of the rest of us were given different reasons not to be let in. Ranged from the pub being too full (a friend then sent a picture of the upstairs where they were sat which was completely empty), to being too pissed. We were quiet and none of us had drank yet. He was very rude and it put a damper on the night. After our last friend met us we decided to leave. He let an entire group of rowdy boys in as we were walking out.

I must that I quite enjoyed this restaurant. I picked it as it was among one of the most visited and rated restaurants in Dublin. We went for the Beef and Guiness pie and the lamb stew. Both were really good and extremely fast served, and when I say fast, I mean 5 minutes after we ordered. The reason we made this choices is because we wanted to try something traditional. I would have maybe wanted to see more fish dishes, a wider variety of fish types and differently cooked. Overall we were happy with our choices and the prices are acceptable. The waiter we had was really welcoming and tried to chat whenever he was around, he even knew how to say thank you in our language. I do recommend it but I would want to see maybe more fish dishes next time we decide to visit.

Really nice pub, with great food but not very memorable. Even though the food was really nice, you can find other pubs in Dublin in the same price range with even better food. But if you come, I highly recommend the beef stew with Guinness was amazing with the puff pastry on top. Unfortunately, a huge let down for me was the atmosphere. Even though the decor is pretty, I can't shake the fact that I heard almost the entire discography of Ariana Grande, which was a huge bummer. And the music from the speakers was loud enough that you couldn't ignore it. I hope it was a one time case and on the other nights the atmosphere is better. In summation, great food but if you are looking for a nice atmosphere I don't recommend it.
