One of the best bars with the worst security. The rudest check-in,I was shocked !
Tonight 21st of September, 3 of us (girls ) decided to go after dinner. The security guy stopped us as expected. My friend took her ID out in anticipation of being asked for it as on previous nights outs here. ID wasnāt needed but bag checks were which is fine, but the way he went on about it was super rude.
He started messing with my friendās bag and treated us like we were stealing something!!!! He initially asked what was in the bag, my friend explained, he demanded he show him, so she complied, but frazzled at what was going on she was showing him what was in it one at a time with a smile on her face and he proceeded to scold her, saying, donāt play with him and proceeded to grab her bag and dig through it roughly with no regard to the contents which resulted in contents spilling in her bag leaving it sticky! (wt?) We had no issues complying but the way he went on about it was completely rude and unprofessional. There was no need at all.
I didnāt know that this bar became the kind of bar that you canāt go to after work for a drink and a chat. Even at work they never check my bag like this !!!!!
Iāve been here so many times because the cocktails are amazing and the atmosphere is good. But we are here as customers and rudeness is not appreciated. First time itās happened in the time Iāve been...

After 8+ loyal years at The Bar With No Name, I'm disheartened by recent changes since Simone left and new management took over. This wasn't just another Dublin pub - its house-like dƩcor, alternative atmosphere, and exceptional cocktail menu (especially that unforgettable passion fruit caipirinha) made it truly special.
Today, I found my favorite cocktails gone from the menu. The staff kindly made our passion fruit caipirinha when requested, but its absence from the menu signals a concerning shift.
This matters because unique offerings attract unique people. By standardizing the menu, you risk becoming just another pub that could exist on any Dublin corner, attracting generic crowds rather than the distinctive clientele that built your reputation.
The Bar With No Name has always been the place I proudly showed visiting friends - "You won't find this anywhere else." That exclusivity is your strength, not something to discard.
This isn't a complaint but heartfelt feedback: your bar's character was built through years of distinctive choices. Honoring that legacy while evolving is possible. Please don't sacrifice what made this place extraordinary - Dublin has enough ordinary pubs, but only one Bar With No Name that we've loved for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice selection of drinks, cocktails are good and at a decent price, not more or less than at another place. Nice choices of beers too. Expensive food but probably quality food too (I'm guessing because 12 euros for a goat cheese and fig salad with almost nothing on the plate, it has to be quality goat cheese. I'll just convince myself of it).
We were sitting in the "garden" outside, a protected area where you could smoke, which was good for us a smokers but if you are not, make sure to ask for another area is cigarettes are not your thing š
I didn't book the table so I did not know that you could only stay 2 hours at a time, so to take into account if you want to go there
And the 12,5% fee service charge if you are a table of 5 or more is also to take into account, not the best surprise to be forces to give tips, I'd rather give it myself like I usually do š I know many places do it in Dublin so it is not a critique on this place particularly and I understand the reasons why they do it as nor everyone give tips...
