I had the most delightful experience at this charming pub in Galway's city centre! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was absolutely fabulous, and I must say, the mussels were a true standout. The beef stew was also highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. It was a great meal accompanied by wonderful Irish music, creating a truly authentic experience.

Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was outstanding as well. Despite our group of 10 being a last-minute addition, they were able to accommodate us with quick and friendly service. The menu offered an interesting mix of tapas and pub food, and both the mushrooms and burger were simply delicious.

I also had the pleasure of discovering that this pub is part of The Residence Hotel. It was a fortunate find, as I found myself returning each night of my stay to enjoy drinks and good craic. The soup of the day and the goat cheese salad were divine, with the soup offering a delightful combination of potato, leek, and various flavors. The staff was incredibly friendly throughout my visit, making the experience even more enjoyable.

I couldn't resist coming back for one last lunch, and the soup of the day, featuring carrots and broccoli, proved to be just as delicious as before. It's safe to say that the food here never disappoints.

Another highlight was the wonderful live music that filled the air. It added a special touch to the already great ambiance. The talented band played high-quality music, including Galway fiddling with soulful singing in between. It was a truly memorable evening.

I must mention that this pub is one of the best in the Latin Quarter, with fantastic food and a vibrant atmosphere. If you're a fan of steak sandwiches, you simply can't miss their world-class offering—it's the best I've ever had! While my wife enjoyed her fish and chips, we both loved the live music and the overall ambiance. The only minor downsides were that it could get a little loud and cramped indoors, but they do offer outdoor seating as well.

The pub's granite walls and warm, friendly atmosphere create an authentic and inviting setting. The live band's performance was accompanied by delicious fresh field mushrooms with ciabatta and a tasty side salad. It was truly a Gallic evening to remember.

In addition to the delectable food and fantastic live music, the pub's attention to detail extended to their toilets. The artwork adorning the walls was truly amazing, adding a unique touch to the overall experience.

I wholeheartedly recommend this pub to anyone visiting Galway. Whether you're looking for delicious food, lively music, or a cozy atmosphere, this place has it all. Make sure to drop by and enjoy a wonderful evening of great food, live music, and all-around excellent...

A short overnight in Galway on a Sunday night in early spring brought us an evening of alternating bright sun and piercing gray wind. By the time we decided to venture out for the night for a pint, the latter had taken hold. Strolling up and down Quay St., we sought a pub that matched our pensive mood, avoiding the boisterous.

In the heart of the Latin Quarter, just steps from our Leonardo Hotel, M Fitzgerald seemed to fit the bill perfectly. With its rock facade, dark wood accents, and dimly lit interior, it had a traditional, straightforward charm. The pub was alive with patrons enjoying their drinks, and the bar was particularly impressive with its array of illuminated taps. We settled at a large table near the main window, allowing us to soak in the atmosphere inside while people-watching those braving the chilly winds of Galway Bay outside.

As with much of our Irish experience, the bartender at M Fitzgerald was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had just what we wanted. We indulged in a few pints of the ‘Tourist Guinness,’ also known as a ‘Black and Black’—a delightful blend of black currant and Guinness that offers a sweet, even flavor. I also enjoyed a Vodka and Tonic and a couple of glasses of Carlsberg.

The pub’s ambiance suited our reflective mood, as did the company of other patrons scattered throughout the space. Locking eyes with a fellow pensive soul, it felt almost scripted when a guitarist began to play, providing an acoustic backdrop to our evening.

M Fitzgerald boasts live music seven days a week, which was one of the main draws for us that night. The guitarist, an older gentleman with a repertoire of songs available upon request, added a sublime touch to our quiet enjoyment. Each table took turns requesting songs, and his performance was both heartfelt and soothing.

Although we didn’t order any food, having already dined at the Ardilaun Bistro earlier, the experience at M Fitzgerald was delightful enough that we’d eagerly return for a meal next time we’re in town.

For anyone seeking a cozy, reflective spot in Galway’s Latin Quarter, M Fitzgerald is a perfect choice. Its warm, welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and live music create an ideal setting for a...

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime and received great service and the atmosphere was great. Food ordered arrived promptly and was great. Steak sandwich was lovely and my partners tribe fry up was equally as nice. Would have given it a 5 start review based on that experience. Visted the following day as we enjoyed it so much, and there was live music on. However this experience was not fab. No one greeted us at the door as they did the previous day, we took our own seats at the bar which was sticky and had chewing gum visibly underneath. Ordered 2 drinks, one of which being a cocktail. My partners drink arrived promptly but my cocktail took at least 25 minutes to arrive. Bar man was friendly at first, but obviously felt awkward and embarrassed about the wait and didn't engage with us to offer a solution. After waiting 25 mins, we asked him if we could cancel the order as we wanted to leave and he told us it was already being made. When it arrived, although it did taste nice, it didn't look as advertised in menu, and was served with a large ice cube taking up majority of the small glass. Didn't feel it was worth the €12.50, especially given the long wait. Atmosphere was nice with the live music, but drink experience made us leave prematurely.
