There are only a handful of speciality coffee shops in Galway City and Coffeewerk + Press were one of the first to offer a true speciality coffee menu, including alternative filter options and rotating bean offerings. Dublin has been a leading part of the latest European wave of speciality coffee culture embodied in the rise of 3fe, Coffeewerk brings a part of that experience to Galway city.

In recent years there have been new additions to the speciality scene in Galway city with the likes of Little Lane and ongoing staples like Urban Grind. However, few offer as broad a bean selection, with Coffeewerk offering imported stock from Man vs Machine and Coffee Collective and supporting local powerhouses like Calendar.

The design studio/gallery aesthetic is also a welcome pair, adding a welcome sense of experience to the takeaway coffee process. Although, the pursuit of style does take away some creature comforts when it comes to the sit down and relax nature of drink-in coffee.

That’s all taste though, and the coffee objectively and consistently tastes great. Highly recommend stopping by while in...

Without a doubt, this is one of the best coffee shops in Ireland. The entire place has its own concept, starting with the decor. Every little detail makes this place so charming and unique. The window seat adds a special touch to the second-floor gallery, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It's so peaceful to have a coffee in one of the chairs and spend some quality time enjoying the street view. And if you're lucky, you might even get a window seat and take some beautiful photos. Their coffee is real, autenthic roasted, and you can feel the nice smell from the door. So don't go there if you're looking for a generic, artificial coffee with syrupy and sugary. Every time I come to Galway, I have to stop there because it's my favorite place. And by the way, the tall barista who took my order last week was extremely friendly and kind. I’ll give him 5 stars for his...

One of the nicely looking coffee shops I’ve even been in. Wanted to visit it from the moment I saw the cute recyclables coffee cups they have, very simple but a nice house design. The whole interior is very nicely decorated diving you the filling of home. From the moment you go in it amazingly smells like coffee. Whenever I go somewhere new I try the espresso because I believe this is the best way to taste the coffee and feel it’s aroma. The coffee is definitely really good. We also took a brownie and a square cake with nuts, also pretty delicious. The staff is really friendly, engaging and happy to talk with you. I definitely recommend it and one tip, go to the top floor, it gives you a nice view over the...

A friend recommended this coffee shop for our Galway trip. Once we got there, I could see why! The coffee itself was lovely, but what I enjoyed the most was discovering the upper floors. Simple and stylishly decorated, with homeware, art prints, books and lifestyle products for sale, and scattered seating in which you can enjoy your coffee if you’re not inclined to browse the displays. There’s something about Coffeewerk that reminds me of Scandinavian independent coffee shop. Quiet and understated, yet full of light. A perfect place to enjoy a well-brewed cappuccino, whether in solitude or good company.
