I was recommended this by an Italian friend and was very excited to try. Upon arrival at the restaurant with another friend, the owner looked at us and walked past us several times without acknowledging us , even though we were obviously waiting to be served. There were several empty tables outside and so I asked a waitress (since the owner seemed to be ignoring us) if there was a table available for the two of us for dinner. She told me she’d check with the owner and he came out to serve an Italian family who arrived after us and seated them at a table without reservations. He then turned to us and told us no tables were available for the evening. When I inquired whether there were any available inside the restaurant he barely turned his head to peak inside and said there was none at all inside either and ushered us away with his hands. They were both very delicious. For secondi, we had the stuffed zucchini and meatballs. The dishes were regional, simple, unpretentious and delicious. We wanted to come back on Saturday but they’re closed on the weekends. They’re family run and the food reflects their...

That said, basically, just as your host what he's got - it'll pretty much be the standard set of Bolognese specialities. Likewise with the wine - you can pick a bottle, or just ask for "a sangiovese" or some such. Anyhow, the food is impeccable. My favorite currently is the agnolotti - it's got rucula on/in it, and the flavors are phenomenal!
Do note that, more so than in other places, you'll need a reservation... (oh, if you're there for lunch, as with most other places, they'll serve you pretty rapidly, with the expectation that you're going to eat, and...
