Total rip off and tasted like schiet.
Want to spend way too much on a pre-heated meal on Capri? Look no further! Gran Caffe R. VUOTTO got you covered! 🔥
Arrived here tired and sweaty, ready for a meal in the ever so beautiful Capri. First of all, what ever you think you’d be willing to pay for in a restauraunt - triple that.
We ordered two pizzas (which were around 20€ each) + a sprite (12€) and a beer (15€). Thought it was a total rip off but hey, everything is kinda pricey in Capri, right? 🫢
Well the pizza was schiett. Total schiett. The level of schiett you can’t even comprehend. Hard to bite and nearly impossible to chew - thankfully it was tiny so I didn’t have to put on a fight with that dough for too long. Drinks were OK, but that’s probably because they’re the only thing the chef didn’t touch.
After the meal I thought to myself ”Is this really worth of 70€ for two people?”. Hẹll nahhh it ain’t. The food tasted worse than frozen pizza from the grocery store and believe me, I’ve had those way too much back in my days in the college.
The service was alright overall I guess, but when I was asked about if I liked the food I told them the dough wasn’t really good, to which the server replied with ”Yes the dough is pre-made and we have an electric oven instead of wood oven, that’s why it is like it is. You have to find another pizzeria in Capri with wood oven if you want pizza with better dough.” Yeah I couldn’t believe it either, but atleast he was honest. For that I give 2 stars.
To wrap this up; if you really enjoy 20€ frozen pizzas and are hands down willing to spend your kids’ tuition money for drinks here - this is the spot for you dawg. Otherwise, don’t even piss in the direction of this restaurant and try to avoid it at all costs. No pun intended. I’d rather starve in the blazing hot sun than come back here again.

Read moreI was prepared for overpriced food on Capri and when got hungry was willing to pay 15€ for a sandwich and 11€ for tea in this place. The tea in the menu though was said to be Dahmann which is pretty well known premium brand. I would have loved to order something cheaper but I was tired of coffees and there was no other tea in the menu. To my surprise they brought me a simple tea bag of Twinings Earl Grey which is cheap supermarket tea which costs 5€ for 20 bags in the supermarket. I honestly was not even paying attention until a few minutes later when I already put the teabag in the teapot. I then checked the menu again which clearly stated a different brand if Earl Grey tea not Twinings. I was ok with keeping drinking twinings I'm not fussy and it's decent tea. I was just not willing to pay for it 11€ as for Dahmann. So I called the old man waiter who was serving us and told him about their mistake. We didn't request any replacement we just wanted to confirm the price. The old waiter, whose English was ok, told us just one thing "it's nothing". My naive soul who is used to good service thought he offered the tea for free due to their mistake. Boy was I wrong. When the bill arrived they actually charged us 11€ for the Twinings. I wanted to discuss it with the waiter who suddenly lost his ability to speak English and just kept repeating that it's the same price. I asked him to show me twinings tea in the menu with indicated price as it's supposed to be. Then he said with a grimace that we were allowed to pay 9€ for it like he was doing us a favour. His pretentious attitude took me aback and I just wanted to terminate my communication with him and continue having great time in Capri so I paid and got out of their as soon as I could. this is a story of how we were scammed and terribly served in this...

So we sat down with my gf and the service was nice professional & fast We loved the spot we could watch all the people coming and going and checking out different styles and outfits and the mountains behind very beautiful
Ordered two cappuccinos which were nothing special but they were ok. I expected a cookie or something since it was 11e each
Then the bill came and the guy brought the machine to take the credit card and he was like it's 45e and then I paid
Then I was like huh this doesn't make any sense the numbers don't add up so I checked the receipt and they double charged us the coffees apparently
I was like ok it's human error went to the guy to show him the receipt and he didn't look confused or didn't think about it twice he said "oh ok sorry yes my mistake" and then proceeded to take his wallet out and give me 22 euros
His vibe was off though. Didn't seem like a honest mistake
So he gave me the 20and took him a minute to give me the rest 2e... Like he was waiting for me to say "keep the rest" which made me even more angry because I was like I already tipped you... And you overcharged me and you expect a second tip?🤣
Anyway I told my gf of what happened and she was like nah it was an honest mistake
Then I checked the place accidentally on Google while looking for another place and I saw another reviewer say he got double charged too (45 for two cappuccinos)...
So I don't know. They think we're "stupid tourists" or It's all a big coincidence and some human mistakes?
I don't know 🤷♂️
Anyway be careful and always double check the receipts and always ask for...
