My companion & I stopped here because our ferry was delayed so we wanted to stay close and keep an eye on the ferry. We decided we would split a plate of fish/fries. As soon as I noticed a long dark hair on my plate I waived an employee over immediatlely. I showed him the hair and explaned that my meal could not be finished as it was. He took my plate and disappeared. Neither he or the waitress returned. I went to the cashier to let the restaurant know that I would not be paying due to the incident unless we could come to a compromise. The woman sitting at the check out got quite defensive and angry immediatly. When I stated that I would not be using cash or card (not paying due to the issues) she stated she would call the police. I was thankful for that at first. Other employees began to wonder what was going on. I attempted to explain, but they simply did not care about unsatisfactory food or a hair in the food. In fact, they seemed as if it was a normal event. They were only concerned about collecting the money immediately. I walked out of the restaurant to wait outside for the police. I was told that I could not leave the restuarant property and I, in fact, would "never leave the island" if I did not pay. This treatment is illegal in many countries, including Italy, as that is considered kidnapping. I soon encountered the police, as a small office is right next to the restaurant. The officer listened to me, invited me into the office, asked for my "documents". I gave him my ID and he proceeded to take a photo of it. While doing so he stated I needed to "go out of the office". I moved slowly as I wanted to ensure the return of my ID. This apparently enraged the officer as he began yelling at me to get out of his office "NOW!" I did so and my ID was returned to me soon enough. He asked if I planned to pay and I stated that I did not know. I asked him if I was required to pay given the situation. The yelling continued by both the 3 women employees who were in the restaurant, and a male who appeared. I asked for the young male employee who took my food so I could have him explain. He was retrieved but he apparently spoke very little English. Given the rudeness of the other employees and the police, all of which had no interest about the quality of the food, the service or the person -me- I was still reluctant to be forced to pay. I slowly started to walk away. The cashier woman followed me for a bit, but I eventually got to my ferry without further incident. Upon arrival to Naples, I asked other tourists, other Italians and another police about their opinion of the matter. They were all either appalled or embarrassed that had happened to me. Do not let people attempt to intimmidate you when you are in a foreign country. KNOW...

Tucked away on the sun-kissed island of Capri, this Italian restaurant was more than just a meal—it was a memory I’ll treasure forever. As a first-time visitor to Italy, I couldn’t have asked for a more authentic or heartwarming experience. We were rushing through the streets, trying to find a restroom before our boat tour, when a kind older waiter caught our attention. He reminded me so much of my nonno—warm, welcoming, and full of that familiar Italian charm. If it hadn’t been for him, we might have walked right past and missed out on the best food I’ve had in Italy. He listened patiently as I explained we were short on time, and without hesitation, he had the kitchen prepare fresh calamari to go. It was crisp—perfectly fried, impossibly fresh, and absolutely unforgettable. That calamari, with a squeeze of lemon was the best I've ever tried. It was so good I still think about it often. We knew we had to come back—and when we did, it was even more beautiful. We returned for a long, leisurely lunch and were seated outside, where the charm of Capri came alive around us. Limoncello spritzes in hand, Italian music in the air, we shared plates of spaghetti frutti di mare and spaghetti con vongole—each one made to order with fresh-caught seafood and cooked with care. This isn’t a tourist trap. It’s a hidden gem that feels more like eating at a beloved relative’s home. Yes, the food takes a little time, but that’s because nothing is rushed—everything is made fresh, with pride and passion. And while you wait, you get to soak in the beauty around you: the music, the company, the sea air, the view. Coming from an Italian home, it was deeply comforting to find a place that felt so familiar, so genuine. If it wasn’t for that kind waiter, we would have missed an experience that became one of the highlights of our entire trip. “A tavola non si invecchia.” And at this table, time slows down in the most beautiful way.
Thank you for this beautiful experience that I have cherished since a year ago. I hope to return again one day, and relive every flavor,...
Read moreWe were there at the first time on 16th November. I know there was November and it was the end of the season but we would like to eat a dinner at 18:27. The waiter said that they would close at 19:00 so we cannot sit down....unfortunately there was not any other restaurant open so we should had bought something to eat in the nearest shop. On the next day the weather was not good so we had stucked on the island till 17:40. We had to eat something so we tried this “fantastic” restaurant again. We were erlier on 17th November around at 12:23-12:30 but to be sure I have asked the waiter if they are open. He did not understand it....the lunch was not so bad but the coastguards at the next table got a home made paste and bigger portion. I know they are saving lifes and I do not grudge it from them but....they got parmesan too. Finaly the waiter served up our lunch at the dirty table-cover.The paste was an ordinary one which could be bought from the shop next to the restaurant. I asked him to bring some parmesan because we did not get. He did not put it on the table he had kindly put some on my paste. After all this magnificent serving I have asked the bill. We have paid the amount but after this he mentioned two times the tip is not included....I left 2 € for him I hope he will buy a book about the well hosteling...I do not suggest this restaurant for anybody exept if you are a coastguard or you do not have any solution. If the the shop is open near to this reastaurant please chose it...
