Caffè Città — Restaurant in Desenzano del Garda

I think I'm being a bit generous with this review but we did finish the meal. Coming from Scotland and given I've had a full holiday of great Italian food I expected better I suppose. But the food here is not good. I had half a lasagne with which reminded me of back home, wet and OTT with the cheese. I had half as I swapped meals with my girlfriend after seeing her face when she tasted it. I ordered macaroni with meat sauce which tasted overly salty and was very greasy. We had to ask for bread, which I'm sure I might have been charged for but I didn't bother to check my receipt as I would have ended up raging if I had been. The lone waiter was under pressure and clearly had a lot on his plate and forgot simple things like water when it was ordered. The daquiri I got to drink was also not very good. This review may seem like I'm a bit up myself but it really wasn't upto scratch and this is shown in other recent reviews. The service charge is also a bit annoying considering the service received. I feel sorry for the waiter as the place could be turned around with a new chef and some support for him instead of one other member of staff who solely made drinks. Considering the location you would be far better going to La Brasserie or La Taverna Del Garda as they do far better food at...

Went here for a meal with the wife. nice ambiance starter was ok however the main course for my wife a pasta Ragu was cold worse I had risotto with seafood the front of the plate risotto was warmish the back cold with a fish dish so I summoned the waiter who seemed an nice chap however what sort of cook have they got. As a hospitality graduate and I have run hotels in the past I could see they were understaffed. I try not to complain however this was just negligence offers me a re heat for god's sake or something else decided to pay for what I had ie grilled veg which was hot and starters which was a caprese salad times two which was cold as it should be and our drinks. Offered a limencellos as a piece offering declined. People round about me must have been dereding there mains. This was the second bad meal we have had out of a 3 day stay. It's about time restauranteurs stop taking tourists as mugs. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth lovely place let down by amateurs and...

Venuti qui per fare aperitivo e cena di capodanno, essendo che non accettano prenotazioni siamo arrivati il prima possibile per prendere posto essendo noi in 12 e non rischiare di rimanere a mani vuote, o meglio, a pancia vuota. Ci sediamo alle 7:30 in 4, in attesa che arrivino gli altri, e iniziamo ordinando 1 cocktail a testa e delle patatine, 20 minuti dopo circa il proprietario viene dicendoci che massimo entro le 8 dovevamo esser tutti ed ordinare (cosa comprensibile visto l'afflusso per capodanno) per questo in 4 non sono potuti venire e il proprietario palesemente infastidito da ciò ci fa notare quanti clienti ha perso per colpa nostra, ancora una volta capisco mettendomi nei panni del proprietario il "fastidio" però ci sono modi e modi e poi se ci avesse detto dall'inizio dell'ultimatum lo avremmo preso in considerazione. Andiamo avanti perché non è nemmeno questo il problema. Ordiniamo le pietanze, dopo un po' ci portano i primi due piatti, li lasciano, tornano se li riprendono, li danno al tavolo affianco, prendono uno dei due e lo riportano a noi e infine la signora del tavolo affianco ha mangiato da sola per prima perché quel piatto in realtà era destinato al nostro tavolo e la persone del nostro tavolo che ha perso così il suo piatto ha mangiato da solo per ultimo... ma non è nemmeno questa la vicenda che ci ha fatto storcere il naso... Può capitare dai...(non che il locale sia così grande da creare confusione visto che i tavoli non sono nemmeno una decina e con due camerieri). Ci arriva un piatto con all'interno una ciglia (non nostra perché appena arrivato) e facciamo notare al cameriere il problema il quale lo riporta dentro, esce il proprietario e ci chiede, con tono aggressivo, dove fosse la ciglia, la persona interessata indica dov'è, lui non la vede e insiste, noi gliela indichiamo, lui continua a non vederla così noi accendiamo i led per fargliela vedere, lui insiste ancora che non c'è e ci fa mettere le mani nel piatto per prenderla e mostrargliela così alla fine la vede e fa "a eccola ok" si gira e con tono arrogante ci fa un bel "BAH". Bo forse nel suo locale è normale mangiare cibo e peli... Chi lo sa... Per onestà però devo dire che il cibo era buono, complimenti...
