The Scechuan food in this restaurant is authentic at reasonable price. My friend and I ordered four dishes and two bowls of brown sugar ice jelly. Brown sugar ice jelly was good. I was also quite impressed by how chili oil sauce had been thickened and absorbed in the chicken. The handmade beef noodle was above average but not as great as I had expected. I personally hoped it to be a bit more al dente but my friend thought it wa very tasty.
However, one ingredient was missing in the vegetarian Maochai. I ordered it because as stated on the menu, the ingredient contains king oyster mushroom. However, we couldn't find even a slice of it in our dish which was such a disappointment for me.
The waiter told us cooker forgot to put it in the dish but he could get me another small bowl of mushroom. Since we had already been quite full, I refused. But I asked for a deduction in price instead (from 13 to 10 euros). The waitress took a strong stand and rejected it. She argued that it's normal to have one ingredient missing in Maochai and even there were mushrooms, there'd be only THREE slices. She said she could give us more next time when we visited the restaurant again. However, we do not live in Florence and she delivered a feeling that we should accept our bad luck that we got a dish not as depicted on the menu.
Come on, ordering Maochai is not buying the lottery. The appetite should not run into a risk like this. So a reminder to all mushroom lovers, you might not find what you want in ur...
Read moreWe went for a late lunch and was fairly impressed with our experience. Definitely agree with Carol Seo said as some dishes can be traps while others are better, just a heads up to be selective and lower your expectations. We ordered Dan Dan noodle, house beef noodles, soup dumplings, and steamed pork ribs wrapped in rice powder. Both noodles are cooked al dente with the right springy texture and thickness. The soup base for house noodle was also aromatic and well executed. The seasoning for Dan Dan noodle is probably is a good as it gets in Florence and better than most subpar metropolitan scezchuan restaurants. The steamed pork ribs were well-seasoned with the five spice. The soup dumpling could use more improvement on the soup ratio but I don’t expect a scezchuan restaurant to excel at this dish anyway. Overall, be selective, pick the noodle dishes, and perhaps more mildly flavored dishes....
Read moreChecked this place out after a week long of good Italian food. We were extremely impressed by the food’s authenticity, flavors, and price of this Sichuan restaurant. We ordered 2 fish soups. 1 was the boiled fish with peppercorn. The other was fish with pickled cabbage. Both were so amazing. Best Sichuan I’ve had outside of China. Very large servings - 1 soup is probably enough for 2 people. I whole heartedly recommend this place if you like Chinese/Sichuan food. After our meal, while we were standing outside to decide what to do next, we were telling everyone who were checking out their menu to grab a table and how much we loved it. We will definitely go back again while we’re...
