The Gold Corner — Local services in Florence

During a recent trip to Italy with a group of friends, we stumbled upon Gold Corner while exploring the area. The shop initially caught our eye with its charming displays, and we decided to step in and take a look around.

We were warmly welcomed by a group of young women working in the store who were incredibly kind, patient, and helpful as we browsed through various items. Their friendly demeanor made the experience enjoyable, and we genuinely appreciated their assistance.

Unfortunately, what began as a pleasant visit quickly turned uncomfortable. While we were still in the store, the managers began to raise their voice at the staff in front of all the customers. The tone and manner in which these young women were being spoken to was, frankly, shocking and deeply unsettling.

As someone who works in customer service, I understand how important it is to support and empower your staff, especially in front of customers. This public display of unprofessional behavior not only disrupted the positive atmosphere but also left us feeling uncomfortable and disheartened.

We ultimately decided not to make any purchases, not because of the products or the staff, but because of how poorly the employees were treated. I sincerely hope that the management at Gold Corner reconsiders how they support and communicate with their team. These women deserve to be treated with respect...

Buyer beware- I bought 3 items total, 2 of them were fine. I sent this to them in 2023: Attached are receipts and photos of an item I purchased in late July while on a tour for a cruise (1820 euro item).

The chain started failing within two months of purchase, of which time I took to a jeweler in the US to see what could be done to salvage it. Their reply was that no repairs could be done due to the manufacture of the item (gold poured over wax mold for a hollow chain.)

I can provide more photos, but there were many weak spots in the chain that would inevitably caused it to fail or break in any due amount of time. Furthermore, after testing the gold, it was proved to be 17 karat. The only stamping on it is "760" indicating an 18 karat quality, of which is illegal if misrepresented.

The only thing that can be done is sold for scrap, of which is approximately 1/3 of the sale price. I am disappointed that the quality was so poor for it to weaken so fast that this can't even be kept as a keepsake of our honeymoon...

I wanted to purchase a simple pair of 18 carrot gold hoop earrings. My husband and I went to the shop based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. We were greeted like we were going to purchase everything in the shop and when told what I wanted were still treated like a big time customer. The manager and the two sales people were personable, well versed on their stock and spoke excellent English. Their prices were within the budget I went in willing to spend. They helped explain the process for collecting the tax back at the airport.
