The only thing queer about this place is the name. We like to visit the local gay bars everywhere we go and weâre excited to see what Florence had to offer, as we love the city.
Sadly this night was incredibly disappointing. The bartender was very dismissive and rude to everyone that wasnât a cute girl. He was wearing a Chicago Bulls shirt and we said âoh we are from Chicago!â And he just said âgood for youâ and scoffed. At first we thought he was rude because we were american. But then we noticed he would go to the women first no matter how long someone else was waiting. Including the locals.
The drinks were fine but watered down immensely.
The music was all outdated songs that seemed like a straight person made what they thought a gay person might like. ABBA, early 2000âs Gaga.
The place is also gross. Sticky floors, ripped seats, broken bar stools and the bathrooms didnât have soap and were filthy. I get itâs a dive bar but not a nose dive bar. All of the pictures are very very old and misleading.
Itâs sad because we love Florence and the first time weâve felt judged, unwelcome & uncomfortable was at the gay bar.
We wonât be back but hoping some queer travelers see this and save their time, money & peace of mind.
Adding more to this because the owner thinks they are cheeky. lol
Not only are the drinks watered down, we ordered their specialty âextra alcoholicâ drinks. And I also think itâs speaks volumes that out of this entire review the only thing he argued with was the amount of alcohol in the drinks.
Not the horrible atmosphere...
Read moreWe were looking forward to a nice evening with other âqueerâ people, drinks and dancing. Unfortunately- queer is not a safe space for queer people.
There are obvious minor people under the age of 18 drinking and smoking in the bar. If you ask them about it - they will threaten you. If you inform the staff about the situation - they will not take you seriously.
Queer spaces are all about respect and safety - anyone looking for that should stay away...
Read moreThis is a very uplifting bar with an extremely welcoming environment. The bartender/owner, Andrea, has great energy, and the bar is an extension of his charismatic and positive personality. Great location right next to Piazza Santa Croce and really reasonable prices. I had fun getting to know locals and practicing my Italian. Really worthy visiting the bar if...
