Angel Roofbar & Dining — Restaurant in Florence

We visit Florence from Usa almost every year and we usually make a reservation to this restaurant as they have a magical Terrance. Unfortunately we had a bad experience this time. FOH should be trained better, the previous team working there was great. Managers can check the chat of my reservation as reservation team were very nice and told me they was going to have a note on my reservation about having dinner on the terrace as it was a celebration dinner. The hostess/manager not sure the position of the women with long brown straight hair working on July 4th at 8pm seating tables, she was VERY rude. I understand that Terrace has a limited availability but is the way you tell to customers that matters the most. I also speak Italian so it was not a language barrier issue. She looked at me and said “ people in the Terrance are having dinner not happy hour” mind that we was there to have DINNER and also told me I was a lier about having a note on my reservation as apparently “they trained them not to say so” ehm really bad we was seated next to people having “happy hour” chips and drinks and us next to them ordering main courses and wine. Also she seated all tables following our reservation upstairs for dinner, really disturbing honestly. Not really the celebration we pictured once we made the reservation, server was not even smiling wow what a change of vibe in this place. We already been here enough times with previous management team and had a great experience will remember like it was in the past. Location of this place is still great and food amazing. Atmosphere 1 star because of the front of the house...

Food was good… extremely pricey for what it was. Especially when the service was poor. From the start, the reservation was not set and when we were finally seated our waitress, Anny, was unfriendly and seemed bothered to serve our table. We then had an issue with communication. We were told an 50€ minimum not per person. An email was apparently sent to someone who was not in our party and we had proof of never receiving it as well as what was communicated to us. The restaurant, instead of working out this issue, proceeded to ignore and dismiss us for 40 minutes. Was this due to the 2 hour time limit? Were they trying to hold us to penalize us? We finally get them to let us pay and our original waitress no longer helped us. The server that helped us pay was great.

It is really unfortunate to have to leave this review. I’m not one to leave bad reviews but this one in a life time rooftop experience was soured by the service and lack of respect. It was supposed to be a wonderful birthday dinner that turned into a stressful fiasco.

Maybe this restaurant just can’t handle bigger groups (ours was 15) and a smaller group of 2 is better. Otherwise the atmosphere and scenery was gorgeous and I hope this can help the restaurant improve preparation for parties greater than 2.

UPDATE (8/21) I am just now getting to this,, but I would like to say the manager reached out to our party and apologized for the service. They went as far as to offer us a new reservation and drinks/food. We were not able to go back as we had plans but the effort was well received and...

When my party arrived for our reservation we had to wait at least 10 minutes past our reserved time on the street before being let in. Our waitress was extremely rude and ignorant. (Anny) If you get a reservation for a large group here make sure you are aware of the 55€ per person minimum policy amount to spend. We were not informed of this (the restaurants fault for sending the email to the wrong person which we had proof of) and when we tried to sort it out Anny refused to help and made us wait for over an hour after eating dinner to finally pay and leave. She avoided us like her life depended on it and gave vague answers every time we asked a question. By the time we finally got the debacle solved she had completely disappeared and we did not see her again. Also the food and drinks were ok but they absolutely were not worth the pricing. While I realize that a lot of the pricing at these places is for the atmosphere, I still think the food/drinks were overpriced. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the bread (which is not complimentary) was very good. I hope this review can save another group from having a similar experience. (07/28)
