Read moreWhat a fantastic meal we had here! We arrived just before the end of lunchtime, but the staff gladly allowed us to order and didn’t rush us at all. We ordered pici all’aglione and ravioli in butter and sage sauce. Both pastas were cooked to perfection. Pici is my favorite, and the pasta was al dente and the sauce so flavorful. My husband’s butter and sage sauce was so delicious we could have licked the bowl. He also ordered a sliced steak, and it was “one of the best steaks” he’d ever had. He couldn’t stop raving about it. Our server was super helpful and friendly as well. I saw a few negative comments here from folks who sound like the only Italian food they’ve ever had was from the Olive Garden. “Pasta with a few grinds of pepper, no bell peppers” - well duh, if you order cacio e pepe it better not have bell peppers in it. “Flavorless bread” - honey, welcome to Tuscany, where bread or “pane” traditionally doesn’t have salt because of a salt tax eons ago. Maybe do a little research on actual Italian food before criticizing a fantastic place like this. Thank you for the...
Read moreAvoid this place unless you want to dine on inferior food with nothing but Americans for company. We had the salad mista. Some greens and unripe tomatoes. One of us then had the eggplant parmigiana. 3 out of 10. Over cooked and not tasty. We also had the boar pasta dish. Very salty. ‘Homemade’ pasta was just ok. One of us also ordered a ham pizza. Ham was absolutely pedestrian. Not what you come to expect here in Italy. The sauce was so watery. The pizza was not finished. The bread was served in a tin pale like one of those chain restaurants in the States that serves unshelled peanuts. Terrible. Service was ok although a gentleman that we believe was the owner stood in the dining room with a scowl on his face the entire time we were there. Never lifted a hand or greeted a guest. The good news is that we are in Florence for several weeks. We will recover from this. If we only had 4 or 5 nights, it...
