Schiaccia Passera — Restaurant in Florence

My mother and I were very politely and clearly waiting to order. We went to both windows to order and were ignored both times. At first went to the outside window and thought that we must’ve been waiting at the wrong place because no one acknowledged us to take an order so we moved inside, where we waited for another 10 minutes to order. The main lady proceeded to walk right past us and talked to everyone around us, but my mother and I. I don't want to assume anything but we were the only asian women at the restaurant so I'm unsure if that influenced any of the works actions. either way it was a very unfortunate experience, and I was really excited to try the sandwich. So giving them benefit of the doubt, maybe it was just an off day...

Pros: The schiaccias were really very tasty and reasonably priced. Cons: The ordering system is confusing - it looks like a 'hole in the wall' sort of place but nobody serves you there, you need to go in at the side, order and pay. Once ordered, you realize how outrageously slow the service is. The last person to be served before we started waiting was number 9 and we were number 17. It took them over 45 minutes to complete the 6 sandwich orders before our one - that's a sandwich or two every 10 minutes or so. Then they served number 18. Turned out they just gave some impatient person our sandwich in the end!! The very long wait soured our experience of this place which otherwise would have...

Schiaccia Passera is not only the best restaurant en la piazza de passera, but is one of the best restaurants in Florence. With many delicious schiacciate options and a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic options, this is a great spot for a quick meal to go or a sit down dinner at a great price point. More importantly, Titi, Miriam, and Rolando make this place feel like home. The energy is always so beautiful and they are kind to each person that walks through the door, speaking Italiano, inglese e spagnolo. I could stay here for hours and highly recommend it to everyone, locals and travelers alike. A must...
