I hate posting bad reviews but I was completely disappointed with this restaurant. On the positive note to the interior was beautiful. So letās start with the waitress, she was rude and dry and very unwelcoming. I tried to order something that was on the menu which was shown on the menu chicken melanise, and she kept on acting like I was trying to order something out of the ordinary. Throughout the entire experience she seemed like we were an inconvenience. Kind of with like an underminding attitude. At some points because of our discomfort with her I tried to make friendly conversation play asking her where she was from and her response to me was that she was from the āworldā. Just to give me an idea as to how rude she was. Nevertheless we were hoping to be impressed with the food⦠and unfortunately I cannot say much good about the food either. The bread that was given to us was completely dry flavorless and stale. The Gnocchi Florentine, had a very bizarre weird flavor to it, and had like melted cheese inside the sauce which made it like a very stringy gooey sauce almost resembles throw up. My sons Carbonara was not made with fresh made pasta and was not a traditional Italian carbonara more of an American iStyle with very little flavor and very little sauce. When we were done eating she asked us if we wanted desserts we said no anticipating a check would be coming, 20 minutes went by she walks back-and-forth by us like seven times, and for some reason never gave us a check even though she hardly had any tables. Finally after waiting and waiting I grabbed my backpack stood up and stood there looking at her and she said you have to pay at the register. And I was thinking to myself well thank you for letting us know since we waited here 20 minutes plus for nothing . We were clearly done our food and our body language alone would only indicate that we were waiting for a check. Anyway with all this said unfortunately this was the worst experience as for food and service that we have experienced in Italy since we got here. I can see why all the other eateries were jampacked and this one was empty I recommend you try other places because this one doesnāt represent...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTLDR: tourist trap, below average food, unnecessarily rushed service, cheaper but not goodā¦avoid.
Definitely a tourist trap lol. They wave folks in, seat you, but then provided rushed service as if we needed to get in and out right away. Service was rude and hurried though there were literally 4 people total dining around 2 PM, though they spoke English. Decor is so random but unique, almost like anything the owner collected over time for decades. Back patio is cute as photos show however the outdoors is 10000% for smokers.
The food tasted just okayā¦not sure where people have been dining to say itās the best theyāve ever had and had to return š. Maybe they meant at this price, since food is priced fairly-ish and came out within 10 minutes of ordering. We ordered a bottle of water, pizza and steak (bistecca alla Florentina) and our total came out to $40 euro. We had been advised by several friends who visited Florence, that the bistecca alla Florentina was a must try while in Florence and to expect the middle to be pink. What we got was not too different than a normal t-bone steak that I would have picked up from Ralphs (local chain grocer)and cooked medium rare (not pink) myself. Mind you, I am not a great cook.
Lastly, the waiter kept offering bread and Iām not sure if they charged us extra but we didnāt touch it because it looked stale. When they took the basket back, I swear I saw them empty it back into a bread bucket š„“
I personally wonāt be back ā itās not my type of place, but it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food, the secret garden, the price⦠but the treatment you get here is the top of every reason. Youāll feel at home even among hundreds of tourists. The owner is always attentive at your needs. The pizza is Roman style (thin), which I personally prefer to the Neapolitan style (thick). Prices are max 10ā¬. The pasta dishes (try the Lasagne!) and appetizers (pecorino tasting plate is served with fresh pears and spicy preserved fruits) are superlative, along with the āfrittiā (deep fried preparations). I donāt eat meat, but I heard peopleās ecstatic comments about their Bistecca and grilled meat. The best place is the Secret garden, a hidden jewel away from the trafficked street (even if itās a pedestrian street, there is always a lot og people walking around). In winter there are several rooms, all of them are decorated in a special way that attires your attention and stimulates your fantasy. The waiters speaks every language and are kind and attentive. All in all, the best choice when in Florence, close to central station and San Lorenzo market. I got this place recommended by my hotelās night porter and I went back here every night...
