Unapologetically Italian. A beautiful and quaint pizzeria right where you need it to be.
I was so worried at first that being near a lot of hotels, it would be a tourist trap or an unauthentic restaurant. I could not be more wrong. It is completely and utterly discreet in the best way imaginable.
The service was second to none, with the waitress being one of the most entertaining and friendly people I have met within the service and hospitality industry, even remembering us instantly on our second visit. They are all native Italian speakers and very clearly try not to swat towards tourism with the restaurant, instead keeping it traditional and pure.
The atmosphere is friendly and warm, with a cosy inside seating area and a lovely row of tables outside. Both are in sight of the kitchen where the food is all freshly prepared. There is a buzz about the place.
Most importantly though, the food itself is a thing of beauty. Having eaten here twice now, I have tried both red and white pizzas. The tomato sauce is a work of art and very clearly something that has been perfected. The toppings are generous but not overpowering and the dough is beautifully crusty yet soft. The sizes are absolutely perfect but some can be more filling than others! This is certainly not a problem by any means, simply an observation.
The value is quite frankly a surprise for something of such high quality. Pizzas average around €10 and can very easily serve 2 people if needs be.
It is beyond belief to find somewhere of this standard in what is now such a tourist hotspot as Firenze is.
We will certainly be back when...
Read moreMy wife and I randomly hopped in here mainly to ask to use the restroom but wanted to grab a few drinks and espresso to be polite. They ended up giving us a complimentary pizza dough appetizer with rosemary and olive oil. Right then we were hooked because of the kind service and amazing dough we tasted in the complimentary appetizer. We made sure to come back the following night when we had bigger appetites. We had been traveling Italy for 3 weeks at this point and spent some time searching for the best pizza in each town/city and can honestly say this was our favorite pizza so far. You get a true family feel at this restaurant and they make you feel valued as a customer. Like many of us, I usually spend time searching for the most popular and highest rated places nearby to eat at...but without randomly walking into this place (initially looking to use the restroom), we would have never found it and experienced the amazing food and service. I've had plenty of great meals at the highest rated / most popular restaurants in town but since many of them have already earned their high google/yelp/TripAdvisor ratings, you usually lose out on a unique and special experience. That's what is great about discovering a new upincoming restaurant like Livio. Let's just say the experience left such an impression on me that I decided to leave my first review ever once I returned back...
Read moreWe would absolutely recommend LVio! This is some of the best pizza we've ever had! We enjoyed the Margherita and the Ortolana pizzas and a couple of cold sodas. If we had more time in Florence we would definitely return!
The service was excellent! We were seated outside on the sidewalk and our server kindly warned us to keep our valuables close because of the many passersby, and being in such close proximity to the train station, it was indeed a busy area. Additionally the server provided us with two fantastic gelato options: Perquè No! and Sbrino. We tried Pechè No! and thoroughly enjoyed the Crema Fiorentina and Bacio (chocolate hazelnut)!
The only small criticism is that the place is tiny, maybe 10 tables total, and there is little indoor seating, which is not air conditioned. However they do offer take-out, so if the ambiance doesn't suit you it can easily become...
