I Gelati del Bondi — Restaurant in Florence

I will give you 2 stars. 1 star because of the owner (male) and 1 star because of the fond memories I have of coming here 2 years ago.

I came here over all of the other gelato places. I walked here longer than necessary. I wanted to come back to the warm wonderful cafe I'd been to 2 years ago where the owner was a cheerful man who took pictures with you and celebrated each day. I brought friends this time. I wanted to share with them the same memories you gave me before.

Tonight your service was awful. Tonight we bought gelato and were immediately shooed from your patio by a very angry woman who didn't even bother to explain why. Why would you ever shoo someone from your cafe when they have your product in their hands? We'd obviously purchased from you. We were just looking to rest our feet after walking across the city to specifically dine in your cafe. But instead of getting to experience the same wonderful place I'd been to before, I was pushed out the door.

I will not come back. I will not tell everyone about that wonderful experience that brought me to your cafe anymore. I won't chance them being shooed and having someone be rude to...

We were lucky to find a spot with Vetulio for the Gelato Experience. We had a GREAT time, learning about, making and trying gelato. Chef Tulio clearly knows his stuff, and he took the time to answer every question we had and make the experience unique. Everything about it was excellent and the gelato was supreme. When we returned home from our trip to Florence, we were curious about making gelato at home so I sent him an email asking a few questions. He quickly responded and helped me out, which was so nice of him. I cannot say enough good things about Tulio and his business, we truly had the best experience in his shop.

It saddens me to see even one nasty review for his business, most of which I assume are from tourists. Traveling to a different country, likely only speaking English and only accustomed to one's own culture on a daily basis and yet have the audacity to say that you had a bad experience because you had to wait for a few minutes or didn't like the gelato.

Vetulio was kind, passionate and funny. The only time we didn't have his direct attention was because he was taking a very brief moment to answer a question from one of the students he brings to his shop from around the world to further their learning in the art of gelato.

Do yourself a favor and visit Gelati del Bondi. If you have the opportunity to attend the Gelato Experience - do it! You will not regret it. We laughed, we ate, we learned then we laughed and ate some more. 10/10. If I go back to Florence, my first stop will be here to say hello and of course...more gelato. Siamo stati fortunati a trovare un posto con Vetulio per la Gelato Experience. Ci siamo divertiti moltissimo, imparando, preparando e provando il gelato. Lo chef Tulio conosce chiaramente le sue cose e si è preso il tempo per rispondere a tutte le nostre domande e rendere l'esperienza unica. Tutto era eccellente e il gelato era supremo. Quando siamo tornati a casa dal nostro viaggio a Firenze, eravamo curiosi di fare il gelato a casa, quindi gli ho inviato un'e-mail facendogli alcune domande. Ha risposto rapidamente e mi ha aiutato, il che è stato molto carino da parte sua. Non posso dire abbastanza cose positive di Tulio e della sua attività, abbiamo davvero avuto la migliore esperienza nel suo negozio.

Mi rattrista vedere anche una brutta recensione per la sua attività, la maggior parte delle quali presumo provenga da turisti. Viaggiare in un paese diverso, probabilmente parlare solo inglese e essere abituato alla propria cultura solo quotidianamente e tuttavia avere l'audacia di dire che hai avuto una brutta esperienza perché hai dovuto aspettare qualche minuto o non ti è piaciuto il gelato .

Vetulio era gentile, appassionato e divertente. L'unica volta in cui non abbiamo avuto la sua attenzione diretta è stato perché si stava prendendo un brevissimo momento per rispondere a una domanda di uno degli studenti che porta nel suo negozio da tutto il mondo per approfondire il loro apprendimento nell'arte del gelato.

Fatevi un favore e visitate Gelati del Bondi. Se hai l'opportunità di partecipare alla Gelato Experience, fallo! Non te ne pentirai. Abbiamo riso, abbiamo mangiato, abbiamo imparato, poi abbiamo riso e mangiato ancora un po'. 10/10. Se torno a Firenze, la mia prima tappa sarà qui per salutarvi e ovviamente......

I agree with the many other reviews that they despise Americans are just intentionally rude to you; doesn’t matter how nice you are to them. However they have no problem taking money from Americans for their substandard gelato. Their gelato is not very good. Definitely go elsewhere. I’ve been to Italy more than 5 times and never had any one proactively be rude to me because I was “American.”

I asked to sample two flavors of gelato. I was very friendly and polite. My intention was to select between the two flavors, which I did and paid for a cup. But while I was being handed the second sample, I was rudely and aggressively told that Americans are always asking for too many samples and I was limited to two samples.

I had not even asked for an additional sample and had no intention of doing so. And frankly, had a customer wanted to sample three flavors, who cares if they are ultimately buying some. It’s just sad for these folks that when you’re trying to have a nice experience they want to...
