Osteria Belvedere al Vecchio Frantoio — Restaurant in Matera

We had an excellent meal! We arrived for lunch and were welcomed with a fresh bottle of water, which really was what we needed with this heat. If you're new to local cuisine, I would highly recommend the belvedere antipasti, which is a mix of multiple antipasti. The cialledda, which is a bread salad, sounded really odd but tasted so surprisingly good and fresh that we reordered a plate of it. We were also served an excellent cheese pate with mozzarella and ricotta, which we also reordered. Most of us just ate antipastis for the whole meal since they tasted so good and were perfectly fresh for the hot weather. Someone ordered a tagliata and really enjoyed it. The local wine also tasted excellent!

We were welcomed by an amayingly friendly staff who was willing to explain every plate to us and made us great suggestions.

Rocco was very helpful with our food recommendations - we had a really delicious meat+cheese platter, super fresh mixed salad, croquettes variety (think this was an off-menu item that was recommended) and roasted potatoes that were cooked to perfection! Il locale si trova in un posto dove belvedere è riduttivo visto il panorama. Il molino "antico" è smontato ma suggestivo da vedere pensando che fino a poco tempo fa macinava il grano. Il locale restaurato da poco è caratteristico e fatto molto bene. La cucina...rimandata. L'antipasto di salumi e formaggi è ottimo. Orecchiette con cime di rapa e peperone secco, era buono ma le cime erano troppo "bagnate" segno di fretta nella preparazione. L'arrosto buono e la salsa anche ma piuttosto sciapo. Il pranzo era organizzato da tempo e ci saremmo aspettati più velocità nel servizio perchè avevamo il tempo contato per il rientro. Il locale merita ma la cucina non è giudicabile perché il menu è stato scelto da altri Per me è rimandata, quindi Ni.

risposta alla replica: Mi perdoni Pasquale, la mia è la "mia" impressione, che ovviamente è personale. Ho utilizzato il termine "bagnate" tra virgolette per far capire la sensazione che ho avuto era quella. Se la verdura, di qualsiasi tipo non viene strizzata dopo la cottura rimane piena d'acqua, e quella era la sensazione, da qui la mia "critica" sulla fretta. Non se la prenda. Sul molino antico forse mi sono espresso male ma rileggendo e rivedendo le foto non capisco la sua replica. Concludo ribadendo che tornerò prossimamente ma lei sig.
