Disgusting, absolutely horrific behaviour from a staff member. I have traveled the world on all continents and been to many countries and restaurants, including countries that are less fortunate like India or Nepal, and I was absolutely shocked to see that the worst customer service that I received was in the heart of the fashion capital of the world, in the heart of Milan!

I cannot even begin to describe the disgust I have towards the obese, ugly looking guy with an excuse of a beard and ugly glasses and dark hair.

We were told politely by another member of staff that we are not able to dine outside and we were invited inside. As we sat at a table inside, this excuse of a person that I described above came towards us with an agressive voice and tone, shouting that we shouldn’t have gone to any table before talking to him, started mumbling aggressively at us, and started running inside the restaurant and expected us to follow him. Excuse me? His behaviour was a disgrace, to the Italian people, to Italian restaurants, to Italian hospitality and the city of Milan. I was left shocked. All of our group was, we were all speechless and immediately ALL OF US decided to leave immediately without even consulting each other.

Get that disgusting clown fired. And if the person in question reads this, know...

We had a wonderful dining experience at Di Gennaro in the heart of Milan. We ordered the pasta carbonara, tagliata, salmon tartare, and baked eggplant—each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The variety on the menu was impressive and everything we tasted was absolutely delicious.

What truly set this experience apart, though, was the exceptional service. We were dining with a 2-year-old child, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Despite our many requests, they treated us with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth.

A special mention goes to Alex, the owner. When we finished our meal and were about to leave, a sudden downpour of rain made it impossible to step outside. Alex immediately invited us to sit back down and even brought us water—refusing to charge us for it. It’s rare to find this level of hospitality, especially in such a busy part of Milan, and we’re truly grateful for the generosity and care shown to us.

Highly recommend this place not just for the food, but for the way they treat people. Thank you, Di Gennaro, for a...

This restaurant is placed in a very busy touristic area, fairly busy when we have been there. No one has welcomed us at arrival or gave information if we can take a table, we just walked in like in a cheap fast food restaurant. Then the waiters set our table for the meals, which was absolutely disappointing. My pizza has arrived much earlier then my birthday girl’s dish, the carafe of white wine was served without a cooler. Not even mention the 0 hospitality from a place where tourist would expect at least a “Hey” and “How are you?” even at least in Italian. The dishes weren’t outstanding, very basic flavours, nothing has surprised us or left an unforgettable experience except for the price what is fairly cheap for the area! Overall it isn’t a bad experience, I consider it a good time and experience, somewhat general and basic.

We were exploring Milan for the day and got stumbled across this little gem. Away from the tourist traps really, we sat down and had a wonderful salad, pizza and some extra veg, and I would recommend it to anyone - the people next to us were enjoying the saffron risotto that Milan is known for too, and it looked and smelled was mouthwatering. The salad was huge, but very tasty, enough to share for the table really, or one very hungry man haha. The pizzas were also really good, with the traditional oven on display for all to see, and the Napoli pizza (anchovies) was salty goodness that you are always craving when you sit down for a pizza. The servers were lovely and attentive despite it being very busy. There are nicer restaurants in Milan, but for the price and location, it was very delightful.
