Terrazza Gallia — Restaurant in Milan

The staff were fantastic, welcoming and attentive. The restaurant interior provided a lovely ambiance for comfortable dining and sitting on the terrace with a cocktail on a warm night was a great way to finish our meal.

I don’t give this review lightly, but we were astounded that such a highly recommended, rated and presented restaurant on all other fronts would have such disappointing food.

Our complimentary "crisps” were hugely over-salted and stale. The beef tartar had NO seasoning or balance and the meat seemed like it had been blended in a food processor, it was like eating raw beef paste. The cod fish tartar, also without seasoning, was confused and insipid with no marriage of flavour or texture.

We were given an amuse bouche of melon ravioli with ricotta and a tomato sauce... It looked beautiful!! It had zero flavour. I appreciated the delicacy and perfection of the pasta in the red pepper ravioli dish, but once again it lacked seasoning and flavour.

I will say that the Risotto a la Milanese was fantastic. Wonderfully presented, seasoned perfectly, and was very generous on the saffron.

Rooftop bar and seperate restaurant of the 5* Excelsior Hotel in a stylish black and white design with large central lighting arrangement. We chose a set menu, which consisted of maily vegeterian options with some seafood and fish. Presentation and preperation were as you would expect for such an establishment, taste was in parts too rich (maybe the local cuisine?) for us. Highlight was probably the very extensive dessert option with 11 different (small) desserts. Service was friendly and attentative, waiting time was okay. Prices especially for drinks, were very high. What we both thought was a wasted opportunity was the lack of sight. You're on the top floor of a restaurant overlooking the central square of the main train station and there are hardly any windows. Never been treated in such rude manner. First of all they advertise the view but when you request to make a reservation for the terrace, they decline it. Second of all, the blonde hostess at the entrance and the manager were extremely unpolite. They should learn from Reinald P and Miacc, how to provide an excellent customer service. Both of the guys have been extremely polite and they understood that we have been treated in an unprofessional way. They try to help and recover what the manager and the hostess have done to us. When we politely asked to be moved on the terrace, they offered us a shared table and they also stated to my husband: “your girlfriend is a bit nervous” I was shocked. On top of that, the drinks were below than average. I wouldn’t recommend to spend a minute in this roof top. Especially if you are used to a certain quality of service. Worst...
