We visited this place after a quick research on Google. We wanted to have a nice brunch. We called 2 days before for a reservation but no one picked the phone up, so we decided to go there without any reservation. In the entrance they let us go to the rooftop at the 7th floor. There was no one in the reception after there. So we decided to go outside in the terrace. Suddenly the responsible girl in the reception came and shouted “Everything is full!! There is no place without reservation!!!” In the meantime there was no one outside, hardly 2 tables were reserved. We told her that the reception let us come here and we informed them that we don’t have any reservation. The point is that the communication between them is simply awful and the girl on the 7th floor so rude! After explaining her that, she let us wait for 20 min in the bar till she gave us a table at the terrace . We were waiting only for one reason. To taste this cappuccino with the gold leaf which in the end was a simple disappointment. Poor decoration, poor quality of cups. And in the end they cost us 6 € more without any reason for simply sitting over there, the fact that there is not this rule in other places in Milan. I’m giving 2 stars only for the fact that the pancakes I ordered were tasty but the avocado toast with the salmon which was a poor quality with the half of the salmon to be over date. Oh and I forgot the rude behavior of the waitress who was 15 min late to take us an order where the whole terrace was empty… The only time that I didn’t leave any tip and the most wasted money of €46 for 2 cappuccinos, 1 pancake and 1...
Read moreFirstly we’d booked the rooftop because the menu looked good and not as formal as the restaurant but were directed to the restaurant because apparently the rooftop only had snacks. We were promised we could go up to the rooftop to finish our drinks/coffee/dessert after our meal. Then, the table was too large to be able to hear everyone. There was a “DJ” who stood bopping to the 80’s/90’s disco music, turning up the volume after every song, which wasn’t appropriate to the ambiance. On the whole the service was good but there were a few instances when we asked for something but they didn’t bring it. When asked for some lemon to add to the cotoletta, they bought slices from the bar. Apparently they didn’t have a lemon in the building. The scaloppina in lemon sauce was floury and didn’t have any taste of lemon. The stuffed pumpkin flowers were stodgy. The cotoletta had been cooked in butter which drowned the taste of the veal. When we asked if we could take our drinks up to the rooftop and whether we had a table there, the waiter went to check. After about 10 minutes, they came with the bill to which we pointed out that we hadn’t asked for it but were waiting for information about the rooftop. In the end we could go but there was a fiasco about whether we should take our drinks or they would. Apparently they would take our wine but not our water. Overall, we had 2 bottles of wine (the cheapest on the menu at €70 minimum each), 3 starters and 4 second corses to come to a total of over €400. Frankly, paying that much, I would expect 5 star food and service and found the experience...
Read moreOverall: good experience but if you find restaurants that are older go there.
Location: The restaurant is very well located right at the square of the piazza that hosts the Dome. It’s the building with the GUCCI sign on top. To get in you have to go on the left-hand side of the building and enter via a lift. The entrance is manned by a receptionist so you will have no troubles in finding the spot.
You can either go to 1) the restaurant or 2) the rooftop. We went to the restaurant.
Food: the food was really good. We had the truffle pizza and shrimp & pecorino pasta. We also received a welcome dish too which was very nice! The only room for improvement is in regards with the desert: too sweet and not very traditional, gives the impression that artificial flavours and ready-made products are used.
Service: Really good! We would like to thank Dimitri for taking care of us in a very respectful and thoughtful manner!
Minus points: After we finished our dinner we wanted to go upstairs and check out the view over the piazza. Upon arriving up there we were treated with disrespect by one member of staff despite the fact that we told him repeatedly that his colleague from downstairs told us that it’s fine if we have a look around. He only started being respectful after I had to show him the receipt from downstairs. Whilst I understand the restaurant’s policy that you don’t want to have members from the public randomly strolling around your rooftop, this matter could have been dealt with more...
