A well-traveled friend of ours told us that if in Naples (his hometown) we should not miss “The best pizza in the world at Antonio, Antonio.” This guy has incredibly good taste, to be sure; but don’t they print “best pizza in the world” on generic neighborhood pizza boxes?

In Naples, we noted that A&A was along an esplanade of similar looking restaurants and had little to differentiate it from its neighbors. Walking by it several times, we took it to be a typical tourist area restaurant, so we did not hurry to go, as the food in Naples is good in general.

On the second to last day, so we could tell our effusive friend we went, we tried it… and kicked ourselves for not doing so sooner. We ordered a simple tomato basil mozzarella pizza and a ham & cheese calzone. Both were by far the best we’ve ever had. On the pizza, we marveled at how this could be done. It is just simple ingredients, how is it possible to create such flavor and texture? Is it the tomatoes? Cheese? The cooking technique? Everything together? While totally different in style, the calzone was also one of the best things we’ve ever eaten. Just writing this review creates an uncomfortable longing.

We could not eat it all, so took ½ of each back to the hotel fridge. There’s no way a pizza so perfectly balanced to eat hot would also taste good cold, could it? Guess what, both had us moaning with delight cold as well as hot.

We’d fly to Naples again, and may someday, just to eat this pizza. If I had a last meal, and it were practical, I think I’d pick this. It is that good.

If you happen to be in the area, take my friend’s advice and don’t miss this. Even with all the hype, you know, there really must be a best pizza...

Summary strange experience in a beautiful area with bad service that was an incredibly pushy tourist trap. This place was recommended by our hotel as a nice place by the water. Positives very pretty site with a view of vesuvius and Capri Negatives Long wait for food we arrived and we're the only table at 620. We took a little to order so say 635. We did not receive the food till 720 and it was a pasta and grilled fish dish. During that time our waiter disappeared, and we could not ask for more drinks or an appetizer while we waited. Next we saw the waiters instead of servicing tables walking across the street to pull more tourists in being loud and boisterous.

Food came out it was a small branzino cost 28 euro fine with the view but no sides or sauce just fish and some arugula on the plate left some room for improvement. My girlfriend ordered the gnocchi Sorrento and said it tastes like ketchup was also a surprisingly mid to lower tier dish.

After the food was delivered they started mentioning the tip, abnormal in the US and down right weird in Italy. I ask for the check and they start saying you need to give a tip and it's not included. ( Mind you I am annoyed we waited an hour for grilled fish. ) We have to walk inside to use the credit card machine (also weird) and then make you type in the final cost. I gave a small tip as I felt so pressured (should not have) and then was scoffed and had the receipt ripped aggressively.

Ultimately it was a meal i won't forget but certainly was one of the worst examples of a...

We came to have dinner, we were met by a waiter, who passed us on to another waiter, who passed us on to another waiter, and a completely different waiter took our order. The drinks were brought right away, and they said that they would start bringing the food in 5 minutes. As a result, after 20 minutes we had no food, and an hour later there was still no food, which we were really looking forward to. When they started calling the waiter to find out what happened to our order, everyone made excuses and said that someone else had messed something up. In the end, no one could explain to us where our food was. In the end, we had to swear very loudly and only then did they start bringing out the food we ordered. The food turned out to be tasteless and did not match its name. The pasta with seafood was full of shards of mussels, which is very dangerous. The Caesar salad was a mix of vegetables from the trash, and not a normal dish for its price, and the grilled vegetables were brought as if they were not the first freshness. At the end, when we asked for the bill, they brought it to us with 2 extra dishes added that we did not order. and again when I asked what you did with the bill, the waiters started running around and saying that they don't know what it is. in the end, I don't want to recommend this place to anyone! the food is not tasty, the attitude towards visitors is like a bag of money, the service is terrible...

This spot was recommended by one of the locals. Definitely in the top 3 worst experiences here in Italy. Service was terribly slow despite not being super busy and the food took forever to come out. We knew what we wanted pretty quick but still took almost an hour for food to hit the table. we were stuck there for almost 2.5 hours. The food was bland and not good. Tasted terrible. I tried to explain to our server that the fried pizza should contain red sauce and he said it did, but I opened it up and showed him that there was MAYBE a teaspoon worth of sauce in it. It was also about 65% tough, flavorless dough. Our server said it's traditionally served with a small amount of sauce on the inside, but this was so little it was negligible at best. He got offended when I asked for some sauce on the side to add to it and told me the dish should not be altered. I disagreed after trying it. at least I tried it before asking for more sauce 🤷‍♂️ The pasta was also pretty bad. The bread in the brown bag was old, stale nasty bread. There were 2 other tables around us that also had similar complaints about bad food. Both of those tables got similar responses to us. The restaurant doesn't take responsibility for bad food. It was apparently those guests fault the food was bad lol. Terrible restaurant. We do not recommend

During my recent trip to Naples, I had the pleasure of dining at a charming pizzeria along the seafront, and it was a great experience. The location itself is unbeatable, with breathtaking views of the sea and castle in the distamce. As I sat outside, the gentle breeze and sound of the waves created a relaxing, authentic Neapolitan atmosphere. The restaurant had a laid-back, yet stylish vibe, with outdoor seating that allowed guests to fully enjoy the coastal scenery. The pizza was, as expected in Naples, absolutely phenomenal. I ordered a classic Margherita with aubergine, and it was perfection on a plate. The dough was soft and airy, with that perfect balance of chew and crispiness, while the San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella di bufala were fresh and flavorful. You could taste the quality of each ingredient, and the simplicity of the recipe allowed them to shine. Dining at this pizzeria on the Naples seafront was a true highlight of my trip. The unbeatable combination of world-class pizza, stunning views, and friendly service made it a memorable evening. If you’re visiting Naples and want an authentic experience by the sea, this is a must-visit spot. Just be sure to come early or book in advance!

Varying quality food, cranky service. We were 15, so a tough crowd to please and probably difficult bunch to serve without a set menu (which isn’t an option). Calamari & gambettas & catch of the day were fabulous & generous platters; bruschettas were soggy & salad that was supposed to have grilled aubergines didn’t have aubergines, but it could have been an oversight because we were so many. Get here before 8pm or you’ll have to queue at the door to get in, as it’s obviously a popular place on the waterfront. They won’t start serving food until 7pm, though. Drinks were ok, white wine helpings were smaller (like in high end restaurants), not half-glass. Towards 10pm they run out of high ball glasses & so you get a G&T in a small water glass at the same 8€ price. When we pointed out that half a drink was missing, the head waiter brought the beefeater bottle, topped up the highball to the brim & poured a separate halfglass, saying we should never doubt Napoletan generosity & that it should be reflected in the tip - that was rude. Drink waiters were kinder. Cover charge of 2€ per table is included in the bill. 2.5 stars overall.
