Some of the best food I’ve had in Italy, Michelin star restaurants included.
This is a classic Spanish Quarter hole-in-the-wall restaurant that will blow your socks off. We were warmly greeted, and given complimentary bread after placing our order. Both my husband and I thought the bread had a great flavor and chew to it. We ordered the bruschetta as our starter, better than any we could get in the US, but not even the highlight of the meal.
My husband ordered the gnocchi for his entree and I ordered the carbonara. I was surprised to see carbonara on a Napoli restaurant menu, but I was even more surprised to find it was the best carbonara I’ve ever had! The gnocchi was also fantastic.
We decided to see if the excellence continued, and to get a full experience of the menu, we decided to order the tiramisu. We had high hopes when we saw our server grab the a big sheet pan from the fridge filled with tiramisu, and our expectations were blown out of the water. If you like a coffee-forward tiramisu, this is the one for you! We shared one piece and both of us were wanting more when we were finished.
The waitstaff was kind enough to give a complimentary tasting of the meloncello, which neither my husband nor I have ever had. We were both big fans of the small sample we were given.
We spent around €50 for the two of us, however we got a bottle of wine, a starter, and a dessert. So this could easily be €10-€20 per person if you don’t get as much.
Overall, O’Sapurit was the best food I have had in Naples and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic...
Read moreFood was very mediocre, AND I got food poisoning from the best part of the meal, a clam appetizer and spaghetti con vongole. (We shared the clam dishes and I must have eaten a bad one, while my spouse just "enjoyed" the brothy part, as I was up most of the night and he was mildly effected.) I ordered a Caprese salad as one was served to someone at a nearby table at the place we ate the previous day with beautiful red tomatoes (a surprise given time of year), but THIS place offered up hard, mealy pink tomatoes and tried to convince us this was acceptable. We had a bistecca which was mediocre AND overcooked which was accompanied by the waiter's recommended side dish which I reluctantly ordered after he assured me that it was NOT broccoli rabe, which it turned out to be (aka cima di rapa or whatever they called it). The house wine was extremely mediocre. The television and sports posters in the dining room did not contribute to the...
Read moreWe were pretty dissappointed with our dinner at O'Sapurit given the positive recommendations. The service was extremely poor, and unorganised. The atmosphere was ok but give the fact that cold air was entering through the windows, it was pretty cold, other guests also were wearing jackets or left because of the cold.
We ordered 1 liter house wine and got a bottle of white whine (0.75l). We were waiting really long for the food. The bruscetta was good, then the primi piatti arrived. One carbonara and one spagetti frutti di mare, both dishes were extremely salty. We tried to eat, but it was not possible for us.
We returned both dishes. After 30 minutes we got again the same dishes, not salty but without any taste. We did not feel welcome there, because we critized them, no apology came from the owner.
It was 2h spent, and there were several times, we considered leaving...
