We ate here our first night in Napoli. Nice place, good atmosphere and good service. The four of us had 2 different experiences, however. My husband and son, who both had seafood dishes (fried alici antipasto, spaghetti with clams, and spaghetti with frutti di mare, loved their meals. My daughter and who did not have seafood, were disappointed in our meals. We had the mix of 4 parmigiana appetizer; it was not mentioned until it arrived and questioned it, that one of the 4 was not available- the one my daughter wanted most. The owner said that they had made the other portions larger, but as this was a pretty small portion, that surprised me. I also feel we should have been told this when we ordered as it probably would have changed our decision to order it. In reading other reviews, I notice that this has happened to other people with different dishes as well. As it turns out, the 3 parmigiana were not particularly good: dry and overcooked. I do not recommend this dish. My daughter had a simple pasta al pomodoro, and it was fine/good. Nothing to write home about, but perfectly fine. I had the pasta napelu. The first taste was quite yummy, but there was so much guanciale in it that it ended up just being much too heavy and greasy, and so I liked it less as I continued eating. I do not recommend this dish. Our meal ended up being one of the more expensive ones we had in our 5 days in Napoli, and we didn't even order wine. I do not feel it was worth it, and it was definitely not a good first food experience in this city for me. l would give it 3.5 stars if I could because the boys liked their food. Soin summary, if you eat seafood, then by all means try the place. If you order "di terra", then we found better at lower...
Read moreAntica Trattoria e Pizzeria da Donato was the place that left best memories and culinary experience though all the stay.
As we didn't book a table we had to wait for available one but the staff were very reassuring and welcoming. As soon as the table was ready, we were asked if we liked the table.
The staff went beyond a mile to make us feeling welcome and special. During the whole evening they were professional, friendly, helpful.
The menu consists lots of dishes, starring from standard starters through more sublime ones, pizza, pasta dishes etc. Lots of dishes are sea-food based. Vegetarian options also available. The good wine selection and the staff is happy to recommend or pair some for you.
Despite the restaurant was full, our meal was served promptly and prepared as we asked. The portions were very generous and the food was absolutely scrumptious! Best pasta with neapolitan ragù I have ever had, the pizza was great too! It's in top 3 of all pizzas during the stay. Great meal! The tiramisu was OK, not exactly what I expected but the coffee was great.
The atmosphere of the place seems cosy and authentic, nice simple decor with Italian colours. Despite the place was buzzing, it didn't feel to crowded or too...
Ebenerdiger Eingang also Rollstuhl geeignet. Unbedingt vorher reservieren !!!
Comunque ho concluso tutto in anticipo, ho pagato e me ne sono andato.
I'm not quite as enthusiastic as the other people who have written reviews here. I don't know if it's a scam, but just showing up without a table reservation is almost a crime. The head waiter did manage to make room for me. The boss didn't like that. There were arguments between the boss and the head waiter when a group came without a reservation and they still found a seat. You shouldn't have to see that as a guest. I was put under physical pressure to order and eat quickly, pay and leave. My Insalata Mista wasn't marinated, which is usual in Italy, but requests for vinegar, oil, salt and pepper were ignored. The eggplant starter was delicious and there's nothing to complain about. The pizza was a Quatro Stagioni. To be honest, I've had much better pizza. Sorry, but there's still room for improvement. Anyway, I put an early end to the whole thing, paid and left. Of course you can't please everyone, that was just my impression of myself. I think the staff do their very best. Cash and card payments possible. Ground-level entrance, so wheelchair accessible. Make sure to reserve...
