I came here expecting to be blown away with great Sicilian hospitality and delicious food. In terms of our food, we ordered the Sicilian mixed antipasta dish, squid ink pasta, grilled catch of the day, mixed fried fish and the porchetta. Antipasta was delicious as we liked being able to sample the local dishes, the pasta was delicious, but was undercooked and everything else just meh.
The service was odd. All of our dishes got served at once, and once our meals were served, our service from the waiters was few and far between. Besides coming by at the beginning to serve drinks and wine, while spilling it on us none the less, we didn’t see them again until I flagged them down to pay. We were in and out in just over an hour, which is well under our 2-3 hour average for an Italian meal. My father also tripped and fell on their step while headed to the restaurant, not even one employee flinched to come...
Read moreExceptional service, local Palermitan feel. Went based on an older Rick Steves reco. Disappointingly simple under seasoned lackluster food. Grilled caciocavallo was salty and seared, slightly squeaky and just ok. Bucatini con le sarde I specifically asked to confirm that it was made with saffron (waiter assured me that it absolutely was), but there was not the slightest hint of saffron (or raisins or fennel or pine nuts) in the dish which was instead packed with lots and lots of bread crumbs. Tongue was lacking in any clear taste, but the accompanying celery leaf green sauce was fantastic. Mixed salad was only fine. Waiter was fantastic... very friendly, informative, and a jokester. If you want a bland yet authentic experience, give it a shot. I should have tried the tortellini in brodo, but will not be going back. Saffron potatoes were bland, crying out for salt. Seven veils and semifreddo desserts did not taste...
