u babbio — Restaurant in Palermo

I ended up at U Babbio restaurant by mere chance and it's been a lovely experience. Despite the fact that there had been an exceptional power outage affecting the area from the morning, these unforeseen circumstances didn't prevent the restaurant owners to be able to offer their customers delicious food for lunch on a more limited menu. The lady who runs the restaurant and her daughter listed the options available - all extremely tempting - and I went for the Busiate (home-made fresh pasta typical from Trapani area) with fresh clams, red prawns, courgettes and garlic. It was a fabolous dish, accompanied by a nice glass of local white wine. To top it all, they recommended me a dessert that I'd never tried before, a watermelon mousse with dark chocolate flakes. Once the power finally came back (it was already early afternoon) and normality was restored, staff cheerfully celebrated the coming back to life of the coffee machine, by offering a round of complimentary coffees to the clients. The resourcefulness, friendliness of staff and great food quality deserve 5...

After we were there before and really liked it, we were surprised what happened today. We were there four people and followed the recommendation of the waitress and ordered fish for all four of us. Even though we all ate fish, we were still hungry when the plates were empty. We decider to move on. We guessed the price of the meal for us four. The highest guess was 85 Euros. The Bill said 153,00 Euros?! And we could not pay it by card. They wanted cash or instant cash transfer. We felt tricked because we do not know any fish this expensive per kilo. Avoid this place by all means....they...

Sono stata in questo posto per pranzo e ho trovato un servizio parecchio discutibile..si vede che manca di esperienza. Ci versano un calice di vino da una bottiglia quasi finita (quindi mezzo calice) e dobbiamo chiedere noi al tavolo di completarlo perché lo dimenticano..chiedo se si può fare una fetta di arrosto panato per mio figlio e mio marito e una delle due cameriere mi dice che la grammatura è di circa 400gr e fino a qui ok. Arrivano queste due fette di carne (da premettere che è uscita la cuoca al nostro tavolo per darci informazioni più precise) e dopo un bel po' arrivano una fettina per il bambino (perfetta) e una che sarà stata di circa 200gr per mio marito che è rimasto un po' così, dato che ci aspettavamo una bella fetta di costata come ci era stato detto. Mio fratello ordina una pasta di cui è stato dimenticato l'ordine (quindi abbiamo mangiato separati) ed il compagno di mia madre un macco di fave che gli viene servito in una mini ciotola che normalmente viene usata per fare delle piccole tapas, quindi porzione antipasto per intenderci al prezzo di 10€ che direi assolutamente eccessivo per la quantità servita. Prezzi cari per le porzioni servite e per un servizio decisamente mancante. Avremmo ordinato altro dato che quasi tutti sono rimasti mezzi digiuni ma dato i tempi di attesa abbiamo preferito evitare. La mia fetta di costata era giusta ma accompagnata da un poco di insalata parecchio moscia. Non consiglio...
