Locanda Del Bartoccio — Restaurant in Perugia

So near and yet so far. This is local cuisine for the tourists and dumbed down to suit. I had the porchetta to start something I have very often in southern Italy, this was dry and lacked flavour. My main a pork dish with a sauce of unknown origins with underdone and under seasoned roast potatoes. The house wine comes out of a bag in the box dispenser (I know because it's on display in the restaurant, and the tiramisu was just boring. I'm afraid that for many this would be good but I travel in Italy a lot and this was not representative of the best. Service was basically friendly but not the best (for instance I only discovered they had specials after I had ordered and olive oil was only put on my table...

Buono buono buono! A primo impatto sinceramente mi aveva lasciato un pò perplesso, anche perché appena entrati sulla sinistra ti ritrovi la cucina a vista (che a me non da fastidio ma fa un pò strano trovarla lì così, anche perché non è una cosa che si vede spesso), mentre sulla destra c'è una saletta abbastanza piccola con vista sulla strada. Invece ci hanno chiesto se volevamo accomodarci nella saletta sotto e devo dire che questa si è rivelata molto carina... Abbastanza spaziosa, intima e con soffitto a volta. Assieme al menu ci hanno proposto delle scelte fuori menù sia come primi che secondi e tra queste c'erano le trippe alla Perugina, spacciate come specialità della casa e come secondo ho scelto proprio queste e devo dire che ho fatto centro. A mio parere sono tra le più buone trippe che ho mangiato negli ultimi anni! Come primo ho optato per degli strangozzi al rancetto (una tipica pasta Umbra fatta tipo all'amatriciana) ed anche questi mi ha soddisfatto pienamente. La mia ragazza invece ha scelto, come primo un fuori menù, degli gnocchi alla sorrentina e una tagliata di pollo con cavolo viola stufato. Anche questi preparati bene e davvero buoni! Per concludere come dessert, abbiamo preso una zuppa inglese in due (purtroppo vista la porzione abbondante di trippe non sarei riuscito a mangiare uno da solo). E?? Niente... Ottima anche questa! Concludendo, ed è un altro punto che mi ha lasciato molto soddisfatto, il conto! Ho speso per due primi, due secondi, 1/2lt di vino alla carta, acqua, dolce e caffè... 67euro. Ah... Quasi dimenticavo, il servizio è stato veloce e senza intoppi ed il personale gentile ed accogliente! Che dire, oltre ad aver mangiato ed essermi trovato veramente bene, ho speso una cifra più che ragionevole. Appena avrò l'occasione di ritornare a Perugia ci tornerò...

We had a very nice experience at this restaurant. We chose to sit in the outdoor area, and they had full service out there. I ordered the mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer which was huge! For the main course I had the lasagna and it had a nice crispy top and amazing flavor.
