Awful. I made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary weeks before we arrived in Perugia. Well. Our train was a little late and Google maps told us the wrong way to get up the hill. That’s not the problem. I asked to be served outside because no meal is worth risking my health and safety given COVID is still with us. So the first kind server said it wouldn’t be a problem at all so we sat outside. Then another server comes and tells us it is not possible to eat outside at this time of year. Which was funny because many other places had outdoor seating and were serving food outside. A simple no from the start would have been fine. Instead an excuse was made up after we were told it was fine. So we walked away. Horrible start to our day in Perugia. Hoping they are kinder to immunocompromised people in the future. This was just really awful. So I can not remark on the food we did not eat. Go to osteria 13 instead they are super kind and welcoming.
edit is in response to the restaurant’s response* We asked to sit outside at the single table outside and as I had mentioned we had politely asked to sit outside at the cute small table that was outside. The first employee was absolutely fine with it and spoke to me in a very kind accommodating and welcoming manner It was after we had sat down that another employee came to tell us the municipality forbid outdoor dining at this time of year** It led to a horrid realization that this may have been a huge mistake of a town to visit. Of course one can not base their entire experience of a place on one encounter. We had others that were wonderful, others that were even worse.. I would have been happy with a clear no. Just say no in the future. For anyone who is wondering other establishments had outdoor dining. It was my mistake not to call ahead and ask if this was an inclusive establishment. One that I have...
Read moreI went there with a friend and the first thing that hit me was the food, like really the pasta with truffle I got tasted homemade, rich but not heavy heavy, I even thought maybe too much but no it was fine. My friend had meat and it was soft, tender, cooked well, maybe a bit too perfect? not sure. The waiter, he had a blue shirt I think, or maybe it was grey, anyway he explained some dishes and gave us a tip for wine, actually matched nice with my pasta so that was cool. Inside felt cozy, stone walls, warm light, people talking, but not so noisy, kind of italian vibe, made me feel relaxed. Prices hmm not cheap, I even thought a bit high but then again it’s the center and the quality, so maybe ok, we left full anyway. I saw a dessert going to another table, looked so good, big portion maybe, I wanted to order but forgot, maybe next time.
Food was nice, really the pasta, I keep saying pasta but yeah it was good, the truffle made it rich but not too much, I could eat again. My friend kept saying the meat was soft soft, like cut easy with knife. Service, friendly but not pushy, he talked about local wine, I liked that. Place had this cozy style, a bit old walls, warm lights, some noise but not too loud, sometimes I didn’t even notice the people next to us. Prices maybe not cheap, I said this already, but we didn’t feel robbed. I would come back, maybe just for dessert because I regret not trying it, it passed near us and looked delicious, I swear I was almost standing to ask...
Read moreI went there with a friend and honestly it was good, like the pasta I had tasted homemade, the sauce was rich but not too much, balanced somehow, I don’t even know how to explain. My friend had pizza, the crust was thin and a bit burnt on the side, but in the good way, gave extra flavor. The waiter was kind, he told us about some dishes and even a local wine, and that wine really matched well, like it made the whole food better. Inside it was lively, small tables too close maybe, people chatting around us, but actually that gave the vibe, felt italian. Prices not cheap, but not crazy either, considering the place is in the middle of town, so yeah fair enough.
I keep thinking about the service, maybe because the waiter had this blue shirt and looked a bit in rush, but still he smiled, so ok. Food really made us full, we left satisfied, maybe too full. I said already but the pasta was very good, really like homemade, like my grandma but not exactly, and the pizza also tasty. Maybe I repeat myself but that’s what stayed in my head, the food and the atmosphere. Next time maybe I will try something else, some meat dishes I saw on other tables...
