What a location any chef/ restaurant owner would give their teeth for it. Service was timely friendly and no english was spoken by the waiters which was fine for me but maybe a bit tough on mono speaking tourists. We took a local wine to the area and it was great. As a chef im never critical on the kitchen or wait staff as it is a tough job. Unfortunately our expierence today with what we chose from the menu was not great not even good. The menu stated vitello= veal..a tough cut of beef was delivered. The torta was mash potato covered in a red sauce. The pork i can gaurentee was dry and precooked i dont know when, covered in a thick sauce to hide it. For a restaurant to have such exceptional views in a modern environment the food struggled. Obviously i am limited in conversation as my italian is just at best i didnt want to create a scene or ridicule what the team does there. But my humble opinion would be to cook honest food, hero the main component even put the price up a euro or two if you have to guys its 2018 a venue like Del Sole should have beautiful regional food that can be broadcast by the masses that pass by the restaurant. Id be willing to give it a second chance but the chefs need to reflect and think about the product they send to the customer. Im only a tourist i paid my bill in full today so on one hand you may never see me again on the other if your food was as great as your view and location id return every vacation. My opinion and expierence is not to mock or defame Ristorante Del Sole...but if the chefs arent aware that the customers not happy how can they make a change and better their fare. Best wishes...
Read moreI had an amazing drive to the beautiful city of Perugia. For lunch I found Ristorante del Sol with an absolutely breathtaking view. The landscape here is truly amazing.
As it is Sunday today, I haven’t put my nicest shirt. This was a mistake. When I entered the restaurant and asked for a table with a view, I have been told that all tables are reserved. This was a lie. I asked three times to give me a table with the view and the waiter repeated: all reserved. I am sitting here now for two hours: nobody came to sit at the table I asked for.
In the meantime I got my food: while the starter was too hot - it felt like heated - the main course was too cold and I found two hairs in my dish. In addition they forgot to bring me the side dish.
Well, I ordered my desert: tiramisu. It was ok, but I had much better tiramisu in Italy in the last few weeks.
In total my lunch was very disappointing! The only meal in six weeks in Italy that disappointed me. Maybe a coincidence, but the bill was also wrong.
Maybe the waiter had a bad day, and the kitchen had also a bad day. The table that were reserved remained empty for my entire stay. I don’t like when a waiter lies to me, just because I am not dressed to impress on a weekend.
Never ever I will return, I take this as a personal insult....
Read moreI really recommend going here at least once on your visit to Perugia! We went to the cafe 5 days in a row for an early afternoon coffee to enjoy the amazing views and went back for cocktails one evening. The restaurant downstairs is fantastic. I can't rate the food and service high enough. All the staff were helpful and we were really surprised to get a table with a fantastic view on both of our visits (we turned up for dinner without a reservation one evening and we're very lucky to get a table by the window. Before we left, we booked for Friday lunchtime, which was very busy, and got the same table, which meant we got to see how great the view was!) Food wise, we had- visit 1: grilled octopus, roasted seabass, beets and chicory with chilli side to share. Visit 2: prawn soup, avocado, Mango, salmon sald, seafood risotto, ravioli with black truffles and for dessert we had Tartufo Bianco which is a delicious vanilla ice cream with layers of coffee ice-cream and a coffee centre 😋 I recommend all of the dishes we had! I also had very good red wine as suggested by...
