That was our worst gastronomic experience in the Ever journey.
Since we are Jews, when visiting Rome, we visited the Jewish ghetto, and made a huge mistake by stopping for dinner at this restaurant.
Today we visited this place and, frankly, we were shocked by the obsession of the staff. They tried to offer us water four times, one of these times under the guise of clarifying the type of water that we have already ordered. It really confused us, but we still stayed. And it was our fatal mistake.
Our order was accepted quite roughly, in a hurry. There were absolutely no polite, good-natured greetings, to which we were used to in other restaurants in Rome. We asked the waiter to come in a couple of minutes so that we could decide on pizza and dessert - we didn't have time to decide what to order when we were approached. But, no one came back to us within ten minutes. The pizza order was already accepted by another waiter, whom we caught ourselves. We, already annoyed by the service, decided not to order dessert. The pizza was brought soon enough, but another surprise was waiting for us - when cutting pizza, the waiter dropped an impressive piece of filling (a fat piece of cheese with dried tomatoes) right on my husband's new beige shorts. The waiter briefly apologized, brought one napkin and left. By the way, he never cut the pizza, we had to cut it again on our own. The pizza was not bad, as was the pasta I ordered. My husband ordered "four cheese" pasta, and it turned out to be overcooked, literally falling apart when cheating on a fork, and it tasted just like porridge. I can't believe that pasta can be digested in Italy, it seemed simply impossible to me! My husband ate 1/4 of the dish and said he just couldn't eat it anymore. By the way, many people also left malnourished pasta at the next tables and left.
We asked for an invoice, we had a cash register for a very long time so that we could pay. In addition to the objectively long calculation (we waited for at least 10 minutes to be calculated), we were included in the bill of bread and service. We specified why we should pay this fee if we refused bread, we were explained that any restaurant in Italy serves bread and includes it in the bill, this is a service fee in general. Unable to stand it, the husband asked what kind of service we should pay for if it was out of hand, and, moreover, led to the fact that my husband's thing was spoiled. The employee just spread his hands and said it was food and it was normal.
P. S. Due to the extremely long service, we missed our bus for a couple of minutes, and eventually left for the hotel only after about an hour, by taxi. My husband immediately felt the symptoms of poisoning, now he is in an extremely bad condition, he is sick and his stomach hurts. A little not the outcome you expect from an evening in Rome during the long-awaited vacation.
Conclusion: if you want to have a good time in Rome and relax, run away from this place. Our evening was spoiled by disgusting service, dubious food and oiled, inconsolably dirty shorts. Also, the end of the vacation, apparently, will have to be spent in hotels, recovering from poisoning. It’s a pity I can’t give a zero rating here. Because there I see only the desire to make money on visitors with zero hospitality and...

Read moreI've been vegan for years, so my body doesn't digest milk very well anymore. In fact, it makes me ill when I have it by accident. I explained to the waitress my dietary needs and she assured me they didn't use milk at all and recommended a pasta. I believed her, ate the pasta and assumed the creamy taste was either soya or almond cream. Later at the hotel I started throwing up. I was sick for a few hours and recognized it as the reaction I have when I consume dairy products. They also gave me judging looks when my son started misbehaving. He is only 2 and is still learning restaurant manners. When he walked behind the waitress taking an order, she complained saying it was dangerous for him to be walking around because if she was holding something it could fall on him. I'm well aware of that and am careful about these things. When an adult customer walked behind her when she was serving wine, she took a step back and bumped into him, nearly dropping the wine. She apologized to him rather than lecturing him on how dangerous it was to walk behind her; very different treatment. I guess people are quick to judge parents. My son got a bit impatient so my partner asked for the check and took him outside so he wouldn't cause any trouble while I waited for the bill. We felt uncomfortable there and my son was very tired that day. I waited a while, then asked for the bill again. The waiter made eye contact several times when I was waiting, acknowledging I was still sitting there, but the check never came. I was about to get up and go when they finally brought the bill with an impatient look and simply said: the service is not included. Nothing else. I put the money on the table and walked off, fuming. If you have any dietary needs or children, this is not a...
