If you're looking for a luxurious stay in the heart of Rome, the Baglioni Hotel is a great option to consider. During my recent stay, I was impressed with the hotel's elegant decor, exceptional service, and convenient location.
The room I stayed in was beautifully decorated, with classic touches that gave it a timeless feel. However, it was quite small and didn't have air conditioning, which made it a bit stuffy during the day. If you open the window at night to cool the room, be prepared to deal with some pesky mosquitoes. Despite these minor issues, I enjoyed my stay in the room and appreciated its cozy ambiance.
What really stood out about this hotel was the outstanding service provided by the staff. They were attentive, courteous, and always went the extra mile to make sure I had a comfortable stay. I especially loved the handwritten welcome note and complimentary bottle of wine waiting for me in my room when I arrived. The farewell plate of chocolate-covered strawberries was a sweet touch as well. It's the little details like these that make a hotel stand out and I was grateful for the personalized attention.
The hotel's spa facilities were also impressive, with a well-maintained jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. While the massage I received was relaxing, it wasn't quite as firm as I was hoping for given the price. Nevertheless, I appreciated the opportunity to unwind and indulge in some self-care during my stay.
One thing to note about the hotel's location is that it's situated near the US embassy, which means it's a bit removed from the main tourist attractions of Rome. However, it's still within walking distance (around 20-30 minutes) or a quick taxi ride away, which the hotel staff can arrange for you. Plus, its proximity to the Spanish Steps means you can easily access the Global Blue office there and take advantage of the VAT tax refund if you're a non-EU citizen.
Overall, the Baglioni Hotel in Rome is a top-notch option for those seeking a refined, elegant experience in the city. While the room was a bit small and stuffy, the exceptional service, spa facilities, and convenient location more than...
Read moreA beautiful hotel with a good location. I had booked a package deal for several cities in Italy, and had exceptional service with all the other Baglioni hotels we stayed at. Unfortunately, this one did not compare in service or quality to the other city's hotels (Venice & Firenza). We were shoved into a tiny room, in a difficult to access part of the hotel by a service room that had staff coming and going all night. The hall was blocked on our arrival by mops and buckets, which we had to climb around just to reach our room. We should have insisted on another room when we found some men's underpants under the desk. When we called the front desk to complain & have the underpants removed, we were accused of placing them there ourselves, which we did not do. (Maybe that's a tactic other's have tried; I don't know if that is a common thing?). It was rude, anyway. Then the shower door leaked and flooded the bathroom. The hotel merely offered us extra towels so we could clean up the flood ourselves! On closer inspection, it was easy to see that the bathroom had flooded many times before, as there were signs of replaced carpeting, floor tiles and woodwork once you looked closely. So they were well aware this was a reoccurring problem, though they acted very put out, behaving as if we had done it on purpose or through negligence. We were finally moved to a better room, but the first impression was spoiled, and the opportunity to make it right was missed several times. The concierge, however, was top notch, and the only selling point I can offer. I believe this hotel needs to be refurbished and restaffed to compete with it's...
Read moreCliff Notes: AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts Guest BE AWARE! This is not going to meet the standard you are expecting, and they do not follow the guidelines for the AMEX program. I am sure the hotel will have something sassy to say because they already invalidated our concerns, but my motivation is to alert AMEX folks that expect something better. I have stayed at over 50 AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts throughout the world and across 17 different countries this year. I have not had an experience quite like this and it was a terrible representation of the AMEX Brand (no fault to AMEX) – The fault belongs to this terrible hotel. Terrible might be too far, but IS terrible for price you pay (over 1000 USD)… I have had much better stays for SIGNIFICANTLY less money at The Britannia Hotel, Grand Hotel Palace Rome, Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel, Cardo Roma and others. I got better service at The Britannia Hotel for ¼ of the price and a better overall experience that was a virtually the direct equivalent of this hotel. Also – they 100% served a disgusting half frozen pizza… in Rome. Yes a frozen pizza. This bed is horrific. Actually, terrible quality and pillows. This bed was the worst bed I have ever stayed in at a “5 Star Hotel”. I don’t know if it was racism or cultural issue, but we was treated very different from the other guests. I noticed this behavior very early on, and I thought it was a red flag, but moved on. However, as the stay progressed it became evident I was being treated differently for some reason…. Hmm wonder why? There is a character limit, but...
