Just got back from three nights at the InterContinental on Via Veneto and had to share my experience. The location worked perfectly for us – about a 15-20 minute walk to the main tourist spots and just 7 minutes from the metro. Yes, it's a bit uphill coming back, but nothing major even after a full day of walking around Rome.
Got lucky with an upgrade to a junior suite which was really nice. Super comfortable bed, great shower, and I loved having the espresso machine in the room to kick-start my mornings. Housekeeping was incredible – possibly the most attentive I've experienced at any hotel.
Check-in was smooth despite some unexpected excitement – we arrived during Pope Francis' funeral when two heads of state were leaving the hotel restaurant! Even with security and press everywhere, the staff handled everything calmly and got us settled quickly.
We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant (apparently it's the first Rome location of a fancy NYC Italian steakhouse), but the concierge gave us some solid restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. That was a huge help since walking in without reservations in Rome is pretty hit-or-miss.
There's a rooftop bar with live music every night that we didn't check out, even though our suite was on the same floor. Worth mentioning that despite being so close to the bar, we never had any issues with noise or people walking by our room.
I'm fairly new to hotel points and loyalty programs, but experiences like this at InterContinental properties are definitely winning me over. Will definitely consider staying here again on our next...
Read moreArriving in Rome we had a Holiday Inn, my children did not like the Hotel and we entered the app selecting this hotel, we knew that it would be much more expensive than the 1st hotel.
Make the reservation at that moment (King Classic Balcony) for 3 ADULT PEOPLE.
Arriving at the hotel they give me the room, but there was no way we could be 3 adults there and it didn't have a balcony either.
I go down to the reception and they tell me that there was an error in the system and they will give me an additional room at no cost for the other person (my son).
We didn't get hold of the movement at all but we had to rest.
The worst thing is that I requested an appointment with the hotel manager and a young lady attended me indicating that they had made a great effort to place another person in another room.
Here the problem that they did not see or understand is that it was a FAMILY trip and due to lack of sensitivity we slept separately for 2 nights.
It also turned out that on the internet the room had dropped in price but they could no longer support me either.
It costs a lot of work to travel with the family and a lot of money so that in the end we have that kind of deal
My family and a server every time we traveled to Rome we stayed at the Intercontinental hotel also called DE LA VILLE (nothing to do with service and customer service)
Very disappointed, I asked to discuss it and that they give me an answer and it was never possible

Read moreFantastic property, both compared to European hotels and American hotels. Not only am I Diamond guest, I'm an engineer so I look at the little details with everything. The details such as having an iron and ironing board in the room are excellent as most European hotels don't often offer this. The staff was ultra responsive. As I told the staff, most upper class US hotels have a concierge desk, but never staff it. This property staffs the desk fully. The also have multiple responsive doormen. This sets the property apart. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the fountain and shopping, yet itself is located on a quiet street. There's a cute sidewalk-wide all-glass Hard Rock restaurant right outside. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Everything in the hotel was very clean. After several stays at IHG properties globally, even at five star hotels, full cleanliness is sometimes missed, such as in the corners. Not an issue here. And clearly maintenance is being regularly performed at this hotel, something US and European upper class hotels routinely let slide. The breakfast here is literally the best most well stocked breakfast I have ever had at any global location, including both hotels and restaurants. There's nothing they didn't have for breakfast! Finally, they have laser cut wooden room keys! Who thought of this?? Incredible, fantastic property. And reasonably priced. Best experience I've ever had and I've had literally thousands of IHG stays globally. Congratulations to the staff! Can't...
