Small, simple neighborhood cafe & bar, owned by locals, serving locals. Authentic, welcoming proprietors including husband, wife & three sons, one of whom speaks great Spanish and 3 of whom speak perfect English. It's a real vibe of a quickly passing Rome, one where all ages mix for espresso and panini, chats and neighborly catch-up. Hosts are classic Roman, tough exterior, friendly souls. I rented a flat across the street twice for several months at a time. Tigli was my morning and afternoon ritual and I am grateful to have found such a friendly place to soak in traditional Roman atmosphere so close&affordable. The place grows on you. Sandwiches are refreshed every morning with nice bread and the senior owner will toast up a ham&cheese on croissant or focaccia, just ask. They are pretty tasty! Pastries are factory prepared and delivered each morning. Cooked meals come frozen prepared from Cafe Braccio. They're reasonably priced and both visitors&locals seem to dig in daily at noontime. If you're lucky enough to be in Rome to catch an evening futbol match here, with AC Roma or Lazio friends & neighbors talking, cheering and enjoying a spritz or peroni, consider yourself treated to a perfect Monte de...
Read moreSuper lovely, friendly, neighbourhood atmosphere. Loved the welcoming (?owner) who greeted us each morning and worked through our terrible yet frequent Italian attempts. Delicious coffee and the most pleasant way to start the day watching all of the locals conversing, and a great way to end the day with an aperol spritz seeing the evening side of locals enjoying each others company. Best comfortable social atmosphere that was One of the highlights of the trip for us. Highly recommend. €1-10 per person for coffee/croissant. €10-20 per person for evening cocktail...
Read moreThis is a small neighborhood deli and market in the Trestevere section of Rome. We met the owner and his son on our first day in Rome. We stopped in for a coffee while we waited on our apartment. The owner offered me free mortadella and cheese biscuits for a snack. They were delicious. We stopped by almost every night during our stay for a late night drink. You'll be the only non-locals in the place which we loved. It's an early morning, late night gathering spot...
