Very strange place. We were seated and basically ambushed by a waiter to have the “full English” breakfast as he assumed we were English (we are Irish) but that’s fine. He insisted we have the orange juice & coffee too & as we had been in a cafe by the Colosseum the previous day where we had an omelette, toast, orange juice & a coffee for €12 each in total, we assumed this was a similar set up as we basically never even got to look at the menu because the waiter was so hyper and insisted we would love this. In hindsight we should of course have looked at the menu and prices! The “full English” was an omelette with ham & cheese & one measly strip of bacon placed on top. It was accompanied by bread (not toast) drizzled in olive oil with raw cherry tomatoes and shredded iceberg lettuce. Bit odd but we shrugged it off. The omelette was pretty greasy but it was edible. One wasn’t cooked well enough and had a runny centre. The orange juice was thrust at us along with the coffees (mine in a broken mug) and admittedly the orange juice was very good. It was when we came to pay & that breakfast cos €77 total for 3 people. €24 alone for three orange juices. This is why I said we should have been given time to look at the menu as we would not have agreed to them but clearly the waiter is on commission. The place was not worth €77 at all. Whatever about the food, it was also insanely loud with the barista just banging cups the entire time. I just wouldn’t recommend and if you do plan on staying, at least tell the waiter to back off while you have a look at the menu so you’re not hoodwinked into the world’s most expensive...
Read moreWish I looked at the reviews before visiting. I stayed at the hotel across the road and should’ve had discounted breakfast but they have translation issues when you try telling them. Not all of the staff are crooks… 1st visit the chap on the checkout argued with the D’Artagnan beard man when he told him to add charges. I got the impression he wanted to exploit me/tourists with inflated and added charges, which is pretty much confirmed by a lot of the reviews. 2nd visit the same guy ignored my request for the bill twice so I went inside to pay, which backfired for him as gave me an opportunity to point out items on my bill that we hadn’t had. He lets a good establishment down cause apart from him it seems a...
Read moreOur hotel told us that we could get breakfast for 5 euros. Went on their recommendation but the lady serving us said she was not informed and couldn’t help us. How would have I known there was a hotel agreement and to ask for the special breakfast if I staying? Could she have at least attempted to check with the hotel? No, she was not at all interested in helping us. No matter, it’s not about the money, I’m happy to pay and support businesses that appreciate customers. Ordered breakfast anyways and spent $35 euros. Food and coffee was not worth the money and the arrogant attitude was most unpleasant. Many other friendlier...
