Minus, negative rating. The place is so dingy, such a restaurant feels like it's a 3rd world labourer has opened this place in a beautiful place like Rome, Italy. This was such a horrible and horryfing experience because as a vegetarian, and as an avid traveller, I've had more restaurant staff explain neatly and politely about the vegetarian options. The staff who spoke english in BISTRO MONTI was over confident that Rigatoni Matriciana was vegetarian, I was sure it was not as I have never heard of it in my 15 years of eating experience. I trusted them, naturally, because ive never have restaurant staff betray me or lie to me about a vegetarian preference. Matriciana is pork. They gave me pork. And since it was a take away, I felt helpless even after calling them for help. I expected a very decent response, as in a refund, because I don't like to waste any resource. Be it money, food. The italian food that is almost everyone's favorite, if made this way and eaten from this place, trust me vomit is something that would be common after eating it.

THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT. THE ONLY ENGLISH SPEAKING-OVER CONFIDENT-ZERO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT VEGETARIAN-DOES NOT KNOW ITALIAN BUT WORKS IN A RESTAURANT WITH ITALIAN MENU- STAFF PERSON WILL GO TO RUINS AND SO WILL THEIR...

Visited Bistro Montro in Rome with two friends and, while the food and staff were decent, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.

Firstly, the drinks were misleading. The Piña Colada was listed as frozen on the menu but arrived unfrozen. The beer was advertised as 0.5L, yet what we received was clearly only 0.4L – disappointing and misleading.

The biggest issue, however, was the state of the toilet facilities. There’s only one shared toilet for both males and females, and it was absolutely disgusting. The door didn’t lock, there was no toilet seat, no toilet paper, no soap, no hand wipes – not even a hint of hygiene. The toilet brush was black with filth, and the floor was soaking in urine. It was genuinely off-putting and unacceptable for any dining establishment.

It's a shame because the staff were friendly and the food itself was enjoyable, but the shocking condition of the toilets means we definitely won’t...

I'd give it 5.5/10. Our breakfasts were so-so. We had the English and Continental breakfasts. The fruit juice was quite bitter, not sure what is was. Cappuccino was okay. My sausage was already getting cold, and the egg was overcooked. The bread was okay, you couldn't choose the jam for the English breakfast (which didn't include the traditional beans, mushrooms, or tomatoes - though it was advertised correctly). The music was obnoxious - just that bit too loud, and hits from 15 years ago. The view on the little square (triangle, really) is nice, and it's close to Santa Maggiore (well worth the visit). It's very mid in a city that has great options; wouldn't recommend.
