The place has the perfect location: In a busy area, close to Termini station, close to hostels and the embassy area.
It is ideal for ordering a take away or eating on the spot.
In my case, I asked for something unusual because I wanted pasta, but the specialty is sandwiches, cold cuts, wines and desserts.
The coffee was perfect and the attention was amazing!
The place has tables that overlook the showcase and the atmosphere is very good, calm and quality.
It is very smart how they adapt the menu to what people ask for the most, which nowadays are snacks for lunch. I was observing that since few months ago how the people are change consumption nowadays while traveling, so interesting.
Today the tourist wants a snack. Snack lunch. I miss those times when in Rome people took their time for complete meals (appetizer, main, have a small talk with the italian waiters, take a sip of nice warm expresso) but today it is difficult to go to a place where it is not crowded with delivery drivers rushing to the kitchen and quick service.
So, can I say that this is a good place to have a quiet drink? Yeah! It's also a place to go with friends, but over time I realized that if you go alone to eat in Rome, it's better to order a take away sandwich and enjoy walking around Rome ❤️
Instead of sitting alone in a corner place to drink wine... walk! and walk. Stop at each little bar and ask for a drink, drink it standing up next to a window frame, next to the display.. next to the door in the street while having a small chat with someone else..
Do not be static in one place in Rome, go out, walk and try a little bit of all the restaurants and bars ❤️ hope places and try same dish each corner until you will notoce, how different are one place to another, just in small details ❤️
This place is great and always has been!
As I said before, I came to eat pasta here and now is a sandwich business but still being awesome!
And I've seen it all... from people ordering ONE sandwich between two to people eating sandwiches with a knife and fork.
But, if I have to say something, this is the best sandwich you're going to eat on the way to the coliseum or while doing some paperwork at the embassy.
Their coffee is...
Read moreThis is where I had my first dinner in Italy and it made it difficult for all subsequent meals! I mentioned to Danilo my superb waiter, that this was my first meal in Rome and asked for his recommendation. Although he told me that everything was good, however, I couldn’t go wrong with the pasta carbonara. My first bite was amazing! I felt like my taste buds were in overdrive! I could not remember the last time - or ever- that I had a meal that solicited such a reaction! Naturally, the pasta was homemade, with only the freshest of ingredients! I left extremely satisfied. However, this review didn’t take place after that dinner. I must admit, I thought about that pasta carbonara dish all week! Yesterday I joined a 13 day land tour which began in Rome. After a full day of sightseeing, the group was going to dinner at a restaurant that was to include entertainment. I opted not to go because I told myself that I had to go to Bono Roma one more time before I leave Rome (tomorrow). I was happy to see that Danilo was once again my server. I explained that this was my last night in Rome, mentioning how I couldn’t stop thinking about that amazing carbonara. I asked him if there was something else he would suggest or if I should once again order the carbonara. He (again) stated that there are many other good things but that I should probably order the carbonara. I later told him it was as good as I had remembered and thanked him for encouraging me to order it again because I would have so regretted not having it one last time! I commented to Danilo that I couldn’t adequately put into words how fabulous and tasty this dish is - it’s beyond excellent! It is definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten! All of this to say, when in Rome, you must go to Bono Roma and definitely order the carbonara - you will certainly not be disappointed! Instead, you’ll be thoroughly and completely satisfied! Hopefully Danilo will be there to take your order - you’ll be equally pleased with the service as with the...
Read moreAfter being in Italy for a week and trying many of the highly rated restaurants, we were content however yet to be blown away. After much contemplation for our final meal in Rome, we stumbled across Bono Bottega. The friendly staff were a delight as they accommodated my broken Italian with a smile! We had spent much of the last week searching for a perfect spritz, Bono delivered. Also spent much of the week sampling pizze e pinsa and again, Bono delivered. Easily the best cocktails and pinsa we’ve eaten whilst in Rome. The menu is quite refreshing when compared to the standard trattoria and osteria you see plastered around Rome, there is something for everyone and we were very impressed with the offering. Bono is fairly priced for top quality food and drink, a great dining experience (welcoming staff and a beautiful interior fitout). The spritz’s were mixed to perfection (Hugo and aperol)! The ortolana pinsa is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten and the hazelnut tiramisu topped off a fantastic dining experience. Whilst I wish we could stay in Rome longer to sample the rest of Bono’s menu, we can definitely say that our search for a proper Italian feed has been satisfied! When we make our next trip from Australia, Bono will be top of our list to...
