Ok set your expectations: it's a dine-in take-away spot, run by a hard working Korean couple who speak Korean, Italian, and English. While the food is served in plastic or coated-paper take-away containers, they'll charge you €2 to take it out (for the lids and bags, I guess). The menu is 4 basic dishes: bibimbap (rice with mixed veg and beef), bulgogi (seasoned beef with rice, veg, and kimchi), Udon (noodles in broth), and TokPokki (rice pasta in spicy gochujang sauce). There are other small side dishes you can order to accompany. If you want spicy gochujang sauce, that's extra. Food is served cafeteria style, and you need to bus the table yourself and return the tray. There are only 4 tables and the room ambiance has the charm of a photocopy room, but the food tastes authentically Korean. It's a great spot for a quick bite, but if you're looking for broader menu options in a more comfortable setting, there are other Korean spots nearby that are also run by Koreans and offer authentic dishes with bold flavours within a...
Read more100% the most authentic korean taste you’ll find in Rome- they even have a sign that tells you that they are serving representative of korean tastes and if you want something else you can look for other restaurants nearby. It was so hard to find this gem of authenticity in Rome but I knew from the moment I walked in and smelled the aroma of the cooking that it was legit. I’ve visited korea twice, eat it at home, and truly this replicated those exact same tastes. Come here if you’re missing some korean comfort food! I will say that communication can be a bit spotty because it seems like everyone speaks korean, but theyre super friendly! Just also super busy… when you go in if the tables are full, you do have to wait outside. Then when you get to go inside you will have to wait for them to be done cooking and for them to motion you to order. Everything is on signs in different languages but it does still get a little confusing. Despite this method of seating/self service(?) it was still the best korean food I had...
Read moreLuckily i found this gem by walking around in Monti. As I have quite a sensitive stomache (maybe due to eating mainly at home and cooking with fresh and healthy ingredients) I couldn't see all the cheese in pizza and pasta anymore. StarBaps really saved me with their amazingly great vegetarian bibimbap. The restaurant is run by a lovely and super friendly couple and I must say that i haven't eaten food that fresh in Paris, Milan or Rome during our 2 weeks trip. Plus I haven't eaten Korean food so good despite being to gourmet Korean restaurants in Paris where i paid 20-25€ for bibimbap! Also the tteokbokki was so good that my wife is still speaking about it after being back home in Germany for a week! Now we will try to recreate the amazing flavours we experienced at StarBaps :) the next time we are in Rome we will definitely come back a lot of...
