Believe it or not, I ended up having a lovely lunch with a group of friends who had fallen in love with the service and were eager to return. It was lunchtime—right between the first black smoke and the white smoke rising from St. Peter’s Square on the May,08th. We took a short walk down a cozy little street, where the restaurant is tucked away, and were warmly greeted at the door by a woman who actually remembered my friends—even after the countless guests she must’ve welcomed.
Her enthusiasm was contagious and extended to every person who approached the restaurant. The place is small, incredibly cozy, and makes you feel like you're part of the family from the moment you step in.
The food? Absolutely delicious. I had the carbonara—with homemade pasta that was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection—paired with a refreshing glass of red wine. (Yes, I know it's not the traditional wine pairing—but hey, it was my choice and I don’t regret it! 😄)
To top it all off, I later found out that the kind woman who welcomed us so warmly is actually the owner. It’s no wonder everything felt so personal and heartfelt.
Thank you for making sure we had such a memorable experience—even on a day as hectic and historic as that! If you’re ever in Rome, don’t miss the chance to stop by Borgo and Friends. You...
Read moreOkay so originally I was going to defend this restaurant, but as it progressesd it only got worse. We started off finding this place from someone advertising on the street, with a decent menu and a decent price.
When we got there, my wife found several reviews with mixed comments which we were hoping were rare occurrences.
The caprese salad was not fresh or cold.
The ravioli sauce was okay, but the pasta and filling were bland. Also the picture on the advertisement and what you received were not the same.
The margarita pizza was nice to begin with, then we noticed that there was some fish skin on the bottom which means they didn't clean the tray used to cook the pizza or the base of the oven. It also lacked basil.
Staff were nice enough not to charge us for the pizza, but in the capital of Italy i would expect outstanding pizza and pasta from...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I have never filled out a restaurant review in my life but after this experience, I had to. We were led to this restaurant by a person with a flyer who showed us a grand mixed seafood platter. The price was different then we were told and the food served to us was completely different and the worst part was that the food was not worth it. We were served a cold panini and ice cold grilled vegetables. This was a very pricey establishment for a low end restaurant that was tasteless and left us still desiring food. The food servings were small and not worth the price. Please do not waste your time or money eating here. It is located in a back alley...
