The best gelato we've had in rome, by far!
You can tell by the texture & flavor that it's not artificial. Anyone complaining about tastelessness is used to artificial flavor enhancers and cannot enjoy anything real anymore. The milky flavors are super creamy, not watery at all, as it should be and the fruity ones like limone are refreshing and sorbet-like. Both taste very natural and delicious.
I reccommend the basilico e limone, it is especially refreshing, and yes, it tastes like basil (obviously, but I've seen a review complain about it...) The cinnamon (cannella) is a little powdery and full of flavor, and the pistacchio and crema are also my favorite. Another plus is that they use real cones, crunchy and delicious, not the cheap hollow ones as other places.
They also have the same price point as any other gelateria I've seen, starting from 3€ for a decent normal portion. On the pictures is a medium size (4€) with two flavors and one small with the basil flavor. We went once around noon and the other time 17:30 and both times there was barely a queue, place open normally and had no problem there.
The location is fantastic as you can eat your ice cream with a view of the river around historic buildings.
Yes, it is only over the counter, but there are plenty little walls you can sit on, or lean against, so I don't see a problem there. In my opinion, it only adds to the charme. Over the counter ice cream shops are common where I'm from, not everything has to be a sit-down ice cream café, so I don't get the criticism.
Overall, we went back twice to enjoy this gelato with it's unique atmosphere and would always...
Read moreAfter a long (and hot!) day exploring this beautiful city, we found ourselves walking across this bridge on the way back to where we are staying. We didn’t know there was a gelateria here and decided to stop. Everything we tried was delicious; I had the melone and it was particularly good and refreshing. They had several interesting flavors like basilico and limone - very refreshing! - fica (fig) and cannella (cinnamon). All were wonderful. There are tables for seating and they also have water. The river is right there. We...
Read moreThere's a fundamental misunderstanding about this place. They're operating ice cream sales only until the afternoon, only walk-on and only handed through the window. At the nearby door they're operating a snack bar, that they try to dress up as a restaurant at meal times. But if you go and ask gelato in the evening, they'll tell you it's not available. Nor will they let you have a gelato cup sitting at the table. All in all, a tourist trap where the ice cream is expensive...
