Il baretto — Restaurant in Rome

Baretto was our go-to bar/cafe spot while in Rome. They speak/understand English well and our order was always the same price everyday. The staff was super nice/helpful/accommodating as long as you worked with them. I saw a few other reviews which were less than 5 stars and have to believe these came from the few tourists we saw that would come in and be very rude and demanding. My wife and I ordered everything from early morning espresso and breakfast croissants to afternoon sandwiches and beers and this place never did disappoint. Plus it is 2 mins from the Spagna metra stop which is great for those early morning tours.

One other thing we noticed was many bars seemed to have food that all looked the exact same(like it was delivered to numerous places) baretto always had different options compared to the regular super tourists spots. Wish I could give this place zero stars, worst food and service I’ve seen in Rome. We came in to have some lunch and during that time get some stuff done. When asked for the wifi we were rudely told off that they’re not giving wifi during lunch time. Even though we were only using the laptop as we ate and at least 4/6 tables were empty during that time. So we opted to hotspot and ordered sandwiches and drinks. When the sandwich arrived it was burned and tasted like charcoal plastic. One of the cold cuts tasted off and caused the client to be sick. The utensils were dirty....

When I sat down, the waitress completely ignored me, and I practically had to beg to place my order. Her attitude was extremely rude and disrespectful. I ordered a Limoncello, which was served in a dirty glass and tasted awful. The restroom was very dirty as well. The waitress showed no interest or attention throughout my visit. I ended up paying 20 euros for just a sandwich and a Limoncello, which felt completely unreasonable. I definitely do not recommend this...
