During my Roman adventure, I had the opportunity to visit Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato, a renowned Italian chocolatier and gelateria. While it didn't quite reach the celestial heights of Neve di Latte, Venchi still offered a delightful ice cream experience that's worth a visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.
The moment I entered Venchi, I was greeted by an impressive display of their signature chocolates and confections, which was truly a feast for the eyes. The warm, vibrant ambiance set the stage for an indulgent treat, and I was eager to sample their gelato offerings.
With a vast selection of flavors, I opted for the classic combination of Hazelnut and Dark Chocolate. The Hazelnut gelato was rich and flavorful, with a satisfying nutty undertone that complemented the sweetness of the ice cream. The Dark Chocolate, on the other hand, was a decadent delight, boasting a deep cocoa flavor that struck a lovely balance between bitter and sweet.
While the texture of Venchi's gelato was undeniably smooth, it fell slightly short of the dense, velvety creaminess I experienced at Neve di Latte. Despite this, the quality of the ingredients and the harmonious flavor profiles were still...
Read moreThese ice cream/Galato stores sell some of the most amazing favours that you can think of. The only downside is the inconsistency in how much ice cream you'll get for the same cone/cup size and price tag while visiting different stores throughout the city. The staff who work there seem to have a technique that when you buy the largest cone, theyll repeatedly (yet ever so lightly) roll the Galato on to a half curve spoon (instead of a traditional scoop) and then keep repeatedly wiping it along the side of the tub until you're barely left with anything. And if you were hoping to get some of the toppings displayed upon each Galato, like nuts or a thick chocolate shell topping then forget about it because it'll just be scraped back off against the side of the tub. This mostly seems to happen when buying the larger Cones but as you're already paying €5 plus an extra €1 on top if you want nuts on your cone, it comes across as a rather cheap skate move. There's no denying that it had the best flavours around but if your after quantity versus quality then there are plenty of other places around that with serve you a mountain on top of...
Read moreDuring our visit to Rome, we visited at Venchi for gelato, and it was absolutely worth it.
Cone with Strawberry, Mango & Custard Venchi: The fruit flavors were wonderfully fresh — the strawberry was vibrant and tangy, while the mango had a natural sweetness that felt like biting into ripe fruit. The custard Venchi tied it all together with a creamy, indulgent richness, Mango flavour was amazing liked it too much.
Cup with Pistachio & Caramelized Hazelnut: This was pure decadence. The pistachio had that deep, nutty flavor you hope for in authentic Italian gelato, and the caramelized hazelnut added a delightful crunch and sweetness, elevating the whole experience. It’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for something more indulgent.
✨ Overall: Venchi is definitely a must-visit in Rome if you’re a gelato lover. Whether you go for fruitier, refreshing flavors or rich nut-based ones, they strike the perfect balance between indulgence and...
