I hate to give a rating even when I haven’t gotten the chance to taste the food but my husband and I were absolutely livid with the service. We came on a Wednesday evening aroud 8:300pm. It wasn’t crowded there were still plenty of seats outside. We got seated fairly quickly after looking at the menu and deciding to give it a shot since it was extremely close to our Airbnb and it had good reviews. We got seated with our menus and it took the waiter about 15 minutes to finally come take our order and indicated that there was no pizza available tonight. The menu itself is pricier than other places in Italy, even Rome about $20+ for a pasta dish. We decided to share a meal (which we have done countless times at other restaurants we have travelled to around the world) since we were not too hungry but again wanted to give this restaurant a try and was going to order wine since they had nautral wine available. Immediately the waiter gave us complete attitude and told us we couldn’t do that. My husband and I thought he was joking (another restaurant did that before but said it as a joke that the portions would be too small to share but we ended up sharing anyway). But when he started shouting across our table to his colleague in Italian (mind you we don’t know any Italian but from his expression we had our own interpretations) that he was definitely not joking. He then goes “no you cannot share. One plate each” with the look of disgust that we could even think to just order one item at the establishment. I would understand if the restaurant was busier/had a line, had the full menu, and if he showed even an once of appropriate conduct we would have ordered two dishes. But he came out the gate with attitude and was extremely rude in his mannerism that was completely unprofessional. We ended up taking our business elsewhere and ordered two dishes plus dessert at an establishment where the wait staff was extremely attentive, polite, and helpful and the prices...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one. From the start, the wait time was excessive, despite us being the only guests in the restaurant. When my steak finally arrived, it was cooked medium-well, even though I had specifically asked for rare. The waiter seemed genuinely surprised that I wanted it that way, and after taking it back, it didn’t return for another 35 minutes. Again, in an empty restaurant.
My friend ordered veal, but when it was brought out, the waiter referred to it as pancetta. When he politely asked about the mix-up, the waiter ignored the question and walked away. We had to wait another 15 minutes to flag someone down. Eventually, the waiter returned, said “oh,” and took the plate back without any apology. Moments later, another waiter came out visibly irritated, addressing my friend with a dismissive “bro” and saying “bro, this is what you ordered.”
To top it off, when we ordered wine, the glass came filled barely a quarter to a third of the way. For the price, this felt careless and disappointing. Everything was absurdly expensive for the quality we received. The food was mid at best, and the service ranged from inattentive to outright rude. Would not return. To add to it all, I’m getting...
Read moreAfter a long day that wrapped with a visit to the iconic Spanish Steps, we ventured over to Unik for a light dinner. The appeal was a 10 Euro happy hour offering (app + drink) and decent reviews online. Service started and we waited quite some time before being presented with menus. More time passed before the waiter took our orders at which point he mentioned the happy hour had passed but would try to squeeze it in for us. This was strange especially since the table next to us had been seated and ordered just moments before us with no issues in securing their happy hour apps/drinks. He later assured us he was able to include us. We ordered entrees (most popular carbonara ravioli dish and gnocchi with pea cream), both were good but not mind blowing as we’d come to expect in eating pasta across Italy. The waiter turned up the charm in the latter half of the meal which was nice. However when presented with the bill there were certainly a few surprises, one of which being the happy hour charge being higher than the 10 Euro as advertised. We took the hit without creating a fuss but it definitely didn’t sit well with me. But all in all we had a good meal in a comfortable setting after a long day of walking over 20K + steps so can’t really...
