Il Gabriello — Restaurant in Rome

Fantastic experience on our last night in Italy. We didn’t have a reservation so we arrived right after open to be safe and they were able to accommodate us right away.

We shared a bottle of wine that was recommended based on our food choices and wine preference(we were looking for a red that would go well with seafood and lamb). The wine was a perfect elegant light red, an Alto Adige Pinot Noir, Fallwind, that went great with everything. We started with an antipasto special, a smoked salmon dish with burrata, it was very good and was seasoned perfectly. Then I had the grilled lamb dish while my partner had a seafood pasta dish and we shared some sides(potato and asparagus). It was all great and a good amount of food for us but not excessive.

We then both had desserts, my fiancé had the special, a peach zabaione(I think) and I had the pistachio cake and we loved them. We paired these with some amaro that was also recommended to us.

The whole staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly all night. I hope we can make it back to Rome and eat here again!

We dined here based on his recommendation, and it was hands-down one of the best meals we had during our trip to Rome. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel like old friends. They recommended we let the chef surprise us with their off-menu extravaganza, and we’re so glad we did!

Such an incredible meal! It was the last night of our honeymoon and after seeing the reviews here I knew we needed to give it a try. A few nights before while walking to another restaurant for dinner we stopped in and made our reservation for 7pm. They do two seatings a night 7 and 9:30pm. Each seating you have two hours which was the perfect amount of time for us. We started with the roasted octopus appetizer to share and for our first courses I had the squid ink pasta with seafood and my husband had one of the nights specials which was cuttlefish and artichoke salad. For our second course I had the sliced tuna and my husband had the local fish of the day with potatoes and tomatoes. To finish off our meal we had the hot pistachio cake. Everything was amazing. Fresh ingredients, thoughtful plates and excellent service. The entire staff was lovely and attentive. At the end of our meal we were offered complimentary cookies, chocolates and meloncello which was so fresh and delicious, like drinking cantaloupe, but in a great way.
