Very bummed to have to write this. I'd like to preface this by saying the food and drinks were very good, but does not out weigh how the service made me feel. My husband and I went to this restaurant (that I booked about 2 months in advanced) for our anniversary. We are both two young people (30 and under) who don't immediately appear like we have money to spend, although we surely didn't look homeless or anything.
We arrived and were given a great table overlooking Rome because I think I booked so far in advanced and said it was my anniversary. But once we sat, we were completely dismissed and ignored by our waitress, a tall, brunette lady who was managing the patio area.
Every other group around us was given a table setting (placemats, silverware, glassware, water, etc), bread, and a side table to put their bag. They were also brought the wine list and dinner menu. This includes people who arrived AFTER us, including two ladies who she was clearly eager to please as they received bread, water, wine etc. within minutes of arriving.
But my husband and I were given no place setting, no water, no bread, and the most egregious part, we were given an appetizer and snack menu with limited drinks and sandwiches. Literally we were given a different menu than other guests, like they wanted us to have a quick snack and leave!! I was absolutely appalled and felt embarrassed. Who wants to feel unwanted when they go to celebrate their anniversary? I then asked for the dinner menu and she was like surprised to hear me ask that, although she was giving it to everyone else without asking. She then didn't come to our table for a long while to order, and once she eventually did, and realized we were ordering upwards of $200 of drinks and food, her mood completely changed. She then decided to bring us water, bread, and a side table for my bag and was way more invested in us throughout the evening. We aren't one to make a scene so we just kept speaking kindly.
The night ended with a custom dessert that said Happy Anniversary, which was nice. We left a $50 tip (25%) just out of spite.
Bottom Line: Everything was delicious, but don't come here even if you have money if you don't appear like an old rich person from the Real Housewives of Orange County if you care remotely about how the service makes you feel like I do. I felt ashamed to eat here, which isn't how I want to feel when I'm out enjoying the evening...
Read moreWent here to get some food and was ushered up by a gentlemen in the lobby who said it was no problem for us to come in very casual attire (we had been walking around all day taking in the views so we were in no shape for an upscale restaurant). Everyone in there was dressed in button ups and dress pants. Already feeling uncomfortable we decided against our intuition to stay and have dinner. The waitress was nice at first and started taking our order and bringing complimentary appetizers. However, when we ordered the pizza and some french fries, her mood turned sour. I personally feel this was because they were not on the more expensive side of the menu. She then became dismissive and sort of rude in way that was as if she did not want to deal with us anymore adding to the discomfort we already felt.
Now lets go over the actual food and prices. The pizza we ordered was not very good to say the least, it was soggy and bland while the crust was hard to chew. The cheese was tough and overall it was definitely not worth the 30 euros, as a matter of fact it was not even worth 10 (We had a better pizza in Amalfi for 7 euros). The french fries we ordered were 16 euros. They were dry, not crisp at all, and had no flavor. The coke was 12 euros for a little glass bottle poured into a cup and each water is 9 euros. (The water was not that great to be charging as much)
10/10 do not recommend, avoid this place at all costs. Complete rip off and...
Read moreIl Giardino Ristorante at Hotel Eden is easily one of the most romantic and intimate dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything felt elevated yet effortlessly welcoming—like stepping into a quiet, golden corner of Rome where time slows down and the wine never stops flowing.
The ambiance is pure magic. We especially loved sitting in the bar area, sipping cocktails and listening to the live music drifting through the space—soft, sophisticated, and the perfect soundtrack to an unforgettable night.
Now let’s talk food. I’ve eaten a lot of pasta in my life (maybe more than I should admit), but the dishes here were on a whole different level. I’m still dreaming about them. We came back multiple times during our stay because I simply could not stop thinking about the flavor, the texture, the everything. It was pasta perfection. (And no judgment from the staff when we showed up again… and again.)
Speaking of the staff: service was flawless. Warm, intuitive, never rushed. Every detail—from the wine pairings to the quiet check-ins—made us feel like the only people in the room.
Final thoughts: Il Giardino isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a love letter to Roman dining. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to be completely transported for a night, this is where you go. And...
