I’m not one to slam a restaurant without careful consideration. But, you can rest assured that I’m sharing an honest evaluation.
My wife and I were walking between the Forum and Trevi when a rain storm forced us to seek shelter. We briefly glanced at the menu and then asked for a table inside.
The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating, and it is tastefully decorated and had an enticing atmosphere. We were optimistic when we sat at our table.
My wife ordered a white wine, and I found a Peroni red ale that I wanted to try. I pointed to it on the menu and said the name of the beer, followed by the words, “birra rossa”. Our waitress left and a few minutes later, a man arrived at our table with our drinks — only he brought the wrong beer for me. I stopped him and told him it was the wrong beer. He called the waitress, who was irritated and said, “This is what you ordered”. I clarified what I wanted and she rolled her eyes. “I will have to clear this with the manager.” I confirmed my selection and she said, “are you sure, sir? I don’t want you to make another mistake.”
We should have left at that snarky remark. But, it was raining. After they brought my beer, the waitress then told us that we had to each order an entree, or we couldn’t stay.
My wife and I almost always split a plate because we hate to waste food. But, we were already sitting and drinking. So, we each ordered an entree. My wife ordered spaghetti with bolognese and I ordered a pizza. Way too much food!
In all fairness—the bolognese was tasty and we enjoyed it. My pizza was less than average. It tasted like tomato sauce from a can. BUT—the edges of the crust were delightful! (It was soggy in the middle). The rest of it was disappointing.
Our waitress never once returned to our table for our...
Read moreAbsolutely unfriendly stuff and horrible communication, the service is at the low level, astonishing rudeness, condemning look as if this is their establishment, it feels like a mediocre canteen because of the stuff. A man (in a white shirt, it seems like he’s a manager). He demonstratively ignored us upon entering. Made a remark about the greeting although we said "good evening" but he did not hear. Then we were served by a good waiter (no complaints about him). However, the issue is that this manager in a white polo shirt pushed me twice while we were waiting for our dishes. The first time it was hard. I kept quiet. The second time he pushed me even harder (as if in retaliation). When I turned around to ask, 'What's the problem?' he claimed he didn't hear me. The second time, he also paid zero attention. After we clearly addressed him, he did not apologize and said our table was in an unfortunate location (even though other people were passing by just fine) and that he couldn't do anything about it. I replied that he should have asked us to move instead of pushing, to which he simply said he was doing his job, without any apologies but with a smirk. Our desire to stay at this establishment completely vanished. We wanted to pay for our cocktails and leave. The man who was rude introduced himself as Viktor and stated in an aggressive manner that we should speak to him, not the waiter we initially approached, because this rude man was speaking to the customer. We explained that we wanted to pay for our cocktails and leave. He still did not apologize. Our waiter apologized on his behalf. A big thank you to him for his friendliness. Please have a conversation with “Viktor” (if it is...
Read moreMy partner and I chose this places based off the reviews. When we arrived we were asked by the staff if we were going to order food as only ordering drinks weren’t allowed. We told them we planned to eat and they hesitantly gave us a table outside. When the staff came over they asked what we’d like, we asked for some wine and said we need another moment to decide on our food. They refused the drink order saying we could only order everything together. While the pizza itself was satisfactory, my partner had finished his meal before me and the staff were very quick to clear his side of the table while I was still eating, making me feel very rushed to finish my meal. When I had finally finished, we ordered a second glass of wine each, the staff seemed disappointed that we were not ordering more food. While we were trying to enjoy our second glass of wine together, we felt like we were being watched by the staff as if they wanted us to hurry in order to give the table to new customers. While my partner went inside to pay the bill, the staff had already had another couple lined up at the front of the restaurant to sit down at our table before we had even stiff up to leave. Unfortunately this feeling of being extremely rushed through our experience and the feeling of being watched by the staff the entire time has fettered us from ever wanting to return. If you decide to eat here, please be aware that the staff just want to get you in and out as soon...
